Brilliant acoustics with its wood lined walls . Listened to amplified music and for a change it was a great sound at the correct volume. Brilliant legroom and the seating was perfect. A great community venue and for someone from overseas it was a the perfect evening.

Check the schedule and when you see something you like, grab it. The Freight sells out their most popular shows, but continues with a full schedule of great music all week. Plus, they are a great asset to the community, hosting student music programs as well.

Visited for the monthly Berkeley singer-songwriter competition, and were pleasantly surprised by the diversity of the talent and the quality of the venue. Definitely not your average coffee shop.

I'd give the Freight 6 stars, or even 10, if I could. A huge range and selection of great music, reasonably priced shows almost every night of the week, name bands in a small venue (less than 500 seats) where you can chat up the musicians at intermission. We were there last week to see a band that will be... More

If you are sick of tickets that start in the hundreds.......like I am. Come on over to Freight and Salvage! Old school folk music, fresh American writers, no bad seats....beautiful off beat venue. Heard some Jim Bruno and Maurice Tani on the stage .....like they were in the living room. So nice to go somewhere and not feel ripped off... More

The sound at the Freight and Salvage is fantastic. Never too loud, always pleasing to the ear, nice spacious seating, always a good view. If you are hearing an artist you love - you will walk away loving them more after hearing them live here

We won tickets to Classical at the Freight. Enjoyed the quality of the music and the acoustics. Great place to hear music live!

Small theatre, good seating with lots of leg room, great accoustics, up close and personal to the stage, resonably priced. We walked from our hotel (The Shattuck Plaza), picked up our tickets at the office, walked down the street for a quick pizza dinner, had a great time listening to Vienna Teng, walked back through downtown, stopped for gellato. This... More

I had no idea that Freight and Salvage even existed until my wife took me there to see Vienna Teng perform. While the show was slightly disappointing (she was fantastic but they performed too many numbers from the musical she co-wrote, i.e. we heard too much of other people siningg and not enough of her) the venue was great. The... More

This was our first trip to F&S and it was areal treat. Very good seating. Great acoustics. Very friendly staff. Good location in the "arts" district of downtown Berkeley. Garage next door offers $5 parking but paying to get out of there is a real hassle. No real food; just snacks and beer & wine. A great experience and worth... More
