The Freight is among the best music venues in the Bay Area: great sound system, comfortable seating, excellent sight lines, and the best and most diverse talent.

The F&S is a great place to hear live music, both American and World. It's a comfortable and friendly place that is now in it's final and third home, and has been a Berkeley mainstay for four decades. BART is around the corner, and many buses also service Berkeley's downtown

Freight and salvage always draws great acts. Generally a bit of an older crowd and its set up like an auditorium so not really conducive to getting up and dancing at all.

Seating only around 400, and every seat a good one, the freight is an awesome concert experience. The sound is always excellent and I have never failed to leave a show unhappy. The freight also has special programs and classes for kids. Check it out!

FSCH is an amazing place to hear music of many kinds and attend benefits and functions. Every seat is a good listening seat in the house. There is also beer and wine and snacks. We will be returning. There are parking garages for about $10 a night, or if you are lucky street parking. And everyone was so friendly.

This is such a great addition to the Berkeley Theater District. Right across the street from the Berkeley Repertory Theater, Freight and Salvage hosts a variety of really interesting performers, from country and western to blues to ragtime to rock and roll, and much much more with performers from around the world, The auditorium is in great shape and the... I love everything about this place. Of course the music is terrific, but the building (and staff) makes a huge difference in the enjoyment of the concerts. The sound system/acoustics are excellent. There's not a bad seat in the house. It's a small place, but the seats are comfortable and you don't feel packed in. Was there last weekend to... More

They have a variety of American roots and roots derived music. The new place is visually very attractive with high ceilings and has good acoustics. But, there are two negatives. The seats have no arms, they are like dining table chairs. The wine they serve, as of a few months ago (I've been there since but haven't purchased any wine)... More

As people say: Check the schedule, you should find something of interest, and possibly new to you. They have been in Berkeley since the late 60´s but the current location has a real sound system and the venue has be actually designed for performance (not an old garage, like the early years). Berkeley is the home of Meyer Sound and... More
