Had lunch at the new Japanese restaurant. Very good! Plenty to window shop if you are early.

With a random selection of stores, and some needed (Apple in East bay), there are some great restaurants that are a safe lunch bet, decent parking options (impossible in Berk), and has quick access to the highway. It's a short strip, so you can stroll and shop and not waste the entire day, then be on your way. HIGHLY recommend... More

I always enjoy walking around 4th street. It's a nice street with upscale shops and restaurants. We normally grab a cup of coffee and mill around.

This street with sophisticated shops and a handful of excellent restaurants is what downtown should be but is not. We live in Berkeley. Our out of town guests always enjoy this. We go there a dozen times a year ourselves.

If you have time to meander through this street - give yourself a few hours to walk and poke around the local small stores and the big name stores- quirky little travel store, "outlet" crate and barrel and restoration hardware, quite a few and variety stand alone stores and then the side shows of whatever is there !

Visiting Fourth Street has become a family tradition - particularly around Thanksgiving, in the spring, or during the late summer. There is a lovely variety of boutiques and restaurants here - they're small, charming, and carry things you won't see every day. The area encompasses a three to four block stretch with businesses on both sides of the street. Everyone... More

I love coming to 4th Street for little getaways with friends. We take Amtrak from Davis (better than the Sacramento station - on weekends there is no fee for parking and there's a nice little pastry/coffee shop right at the station.) The train is much more relaxing than by car, and lots of times you can get tickets 1/2 off... More

Don't miss Miki's Paper specializing in Japanise art paper and small, well made, colorful everyday objects, Bette's Diner pancakes and sandwiches, and other specialty stores e.g. Travel, lighting, home decor, make up and women's clothing, and two coffee shops: Pete's and Artis. The plaza in front of Peets is a great place to catch live music, always excellent! Good place... More
