This is the spot for a little shopping and dining. Sure there are some chain stores, did I mention Apple, but there are also some fun stores like the Gardener, and the street is very pedestrian friendly. Go and explore, join the Berkeley high crowd for one day...you will enjoy it!

Fun area to walk around, lots of good shopping, eating and just browsing. Only problem is sometimes hard to find parking, even with lot behind.

We had a wonderful time walking around Fourth Street in and out of shops. There is a nice variety of places you're familiar with like Crate and Barrel and many quaint shops too. There are several eateries as well. I noticed that it was also very dog friendly with welcoming water bowls outside many stores and lots of pooches enjoying... More

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon stroll down Fourth street. It is too bad that nearly every store is a chain, but the vibrant atmosphere makes up for it.

Picture a sunny, leafy street lined with a slightly upscale feel, with a wide-range of fun shops and people relaxing in outdoor patios over coffee or a good meal. The shops sell everything from furniture to lighting to books, clothing and cosmetics. There's excellent food to be had. And a Crate and Barrel outlet to boot. There is parking in... More

My husband and I like to wake up early and go to breakfast at Bette's Oceanview Diner. There is usually a wait, but bring the newspaper, buy a cup of coffee at their takeout next door to tide you over while you wait, and enjoy a leisurely morning. After breakfast, shop the street. It's not a long street, but a... More

This is an upscale restaurant/shopping area in west Berkeley. A little pricey, but good quality stuff and places for foodies (Bette's Ocean View, Peet's, Cafe Rouge (for meat lover's), and Tacubaya. Also a cheese/pasta shop where you can get a baguette and hunk of cheese for a quick and cheap(er) lunch/snack. Children's toy store, Restoration Hardware, even an Apple computer... More

Fourth st used to be a grungy industrial street but over the last 15 years it has morphed into a destination. Great restaurants and interesting shops. Parking can be difficult unless you know those secret places to park. No. I am not telling you. I want to be able to park.
