I took a week long summer short course here. The campus is very spread out and is very liberal. The restaurants and bar scene is average at best. People were friendly most of the time. My professor was great and we had our course at the Berkley Faculty Club, which was very accommodating and had great lunch food.

I really liked the prospect of my daughter going to Cal until I found out there was no housing available for students. You were left to fend for yourself as a parent and find housing and transportation for your child. A little scary for a parent sending their 18 year old kid across the country to fend for themselves.

Given that Berkeley is a metaphorical garden of liberal thinking, it's not surprising that the campus has a diverse and multifarious flavor. It's like you never know what you'll stumble across 'round the next corner. The sentiment on campus is more regal, while the vibe on the bordering streets is decidedly more eclectic and cosmopolitan. Finding a parking spot was... More

Campus was more beautiful than I expected. Not as manicured as UCLA's campus. Hilly. We were there on Cal Day so campus was mobbed with people and stands representing all the various clubs and organizations at Berkeley. Homeless people wander on the campus and saw them asleep on benches and under bushes.

Park and walk around the campus. Try to take in a football game and enjoy the new stadium remodeled. Stop by the iInternational House...visit the book store and jus sit and watch the students pass. Take your camera.

Took the BART from San Francisco to Berkeley. Some of the older buildings have quite a monumental appearance, to imbue an air of seat of learning gravitas. In contrast to say Harvard, UCB is of course like San Francisco, a mid C19th creation. Late C20th buildings on site reflect the time of their construction although I noted one attempt at... More

Take a stroll around the campus to enjoy the sculpture, architecture, and people watch. The bell tower and chimes are rather romantic. We arrive as many students were moving out thus did not have a guided tour. Still. even on your own, this is not a spot to miss.

Beatiful Roman Buildings. Not noisy at all. Close to Berkeley Downtown. Not many places to Park your car. Few cafés inside de campus. Library, "time tower" and Psicology are the most beatiful Buildings. Some bears statues for selfies too. For 10-20 minutes visit.

This was our first visit to the UC Berkeley campus. It was a lovely scenic walk on a very sunny California. It was graduation weekend, so there were many visiting parents and students. We went up the Campanella (clock tower) by elevator to the top. We marveled at the intricate mechanical stuff and the many many bells at the top... More
