Paul and Dianne were wonderful setting us up for day of xcountry. Beautiful trails, not crowded because so much space, excellent grooming, sunny, a foot of fresh snow on a fine base. Definitely coming back. Lunch at cafe at warming hut very good! I could use a few more reassurance trail markings as I couldn't always sync up the map... More

Setting: valley floor and up through forest to vista points. Trails: mostly double tracks so I could ski next to my kids, wide enough for skaters. No snomobilers yay! Can quickly get far from the highway noise and the sledders/tubers at entrance. Terrain: varied from flat to steep and hilly ups and downs The trails criss-cross each other a lot,... More

Sledding hill at the Bear Valley Cross Country portion was terrible. Small tiny hill. Had to find a sledding hill nearby on side of the road.

My wife and I skied Bear Mountain cross country ski center today, on a shallow base, and enjoyed well groomed novice trails in the meadows and some intermediate higher woods terrain under delightfully warm partly sunny skies. The spring-like conditions meant bare spots and some exposed rocks, but the groomers had made the best of it to provide nice tracks... More

I've been cross-country skiing since 1979 at several resorts in California (and in Oregon and Idaho). In my opinion, Bear Valley Cross Country and Adventure Company has the best cross-country ski trails in California. There is a good mix of easy and expert trails through meadows, aspen forests, along creeks and along a ridge with views of the Sierra Mountains.... More

My husband, 20 month old daughter, and I went to Bear Valley XC to get a cross country skiing lesson. We wanted to try XC skiing and hoped it was something we could do with our daughter since downhill skiing and snowboarding was out of the question. We called a few days ahead of time to schedule the lesson and... More
