We visited here by car in October 2012, after calling in at Prevelli Monastery [Ayios Ioannis Theologos]. I have to admit that, after paying the car park fee, we only walked halfway down the steps towards the beach. You do get magnificent views! But we were not too keen to walk the rest of the way down, given that we... More

Directions: follow the signs to Preveli monastery. On your way up you will see a turn left to Limini Prevely beach. As mentioned here by previous reviewers, do not follow the first sign, next to the old stone bridge. The road is narrow and curvy- so drive carefully, although it is paved the whole way. At the end of the... More

Wasn't worth the 200 steps we had to climb or the freezing cold water. Nice to see a forest full of Palm Trees even though someone had burned them. Catch it if you are interested, from what the locals say, this forest is endangered because the trees are sick from a bug that is plaguing every palm tree in Greece

We visited Preveli Palm Beach on a day out from Rethymno and had a thoroughly enjoyable day lounging around on the scorching hot beach and swimming in the clear waters of both the sea and the river. It was quite busy when we went and we had to walk down what felt like thousands of steps in the heat (not... More

Another natural wonder. The colour of the fresh water amongst the palms trees as it reaches the white sand and then the sea is a real gem. Best viewed from the steps up to the car parks.

The water is clear with breathtaking views of the mountains. It wasn't crowded, and the palms were fantastic. Be sure to walk up the river to see the tiny falls and flowers.

it was really beautiful and looks as though a big effort has been made to restore it after the fire.

Prevelli Palm Beach is surely the best beach on the south coast of Crete. For many years the beach was used by free campers, bathing tourist and all sorts of comercial stuff. After a big forrest fire in 2010, the local authorities took measurements to turn it into a park, which was already many years the plan. Now since 2011... More

The beach at Preveli is much raved about locally, so we went. Others who are planning to do so need to know - DO NOT FOLLOW the first sign that points left, taking you directly in front of the high arched Venetian bridge. The tarmac surface very quickly ends, and then you find yourself clinging to the side of the... More

It's a beautiful, beautiful place to be at. Well worth the trouble, in my opinion. I took the bus from Rethymnon -> Preveli. It's the same bus that goes to Plakias but stops over at Preveli. You can check KTEL's website for the route and price. Do take note that the bus stop is at an obscure location and you... More
