I can only agree with all the previous posters, the place is an absolute delight to visit. The painted shelters are among a mace of towering sandstone spires half hidden in the jungle, connected with well kept footpaths. Even though only a small fraction of the painted shelters of the area are accessible to visitors, they give a very good... More

Located @ 50 km from Bhopal on the way to Panchmarhi, this place is worth a visit. You need a guide to explain you or else it will be visiting few stone paintings 7 coming back without understanding its cultural significance. Place is neat , clean & nicely protected. Take a guide and enjoy the paintings. These paintings are organic, an 1000s of years old. Its a wonder that the rocks have not been damaged and paintings have been preserved till date. Well maintained, and a world heritage site...must be a part of travel itenary to Bhopal.....can go to the place and come back to Bhopal in 1 day.... More

Sanchi on one side and Bhimbetka on another, make Bhopal a must-visit city. It has much to offer to an Indian tourist. The Bhimbetka caves site is well maintained as it's a Unesco heritage site and its 7 caves give a serene feel to a visitor of times gone by. Hire a guide for a 30-min walk around the caves... More

So I went here with my kids, though it is a very long drive from the city , it's a must see. The archeological findings are something , you would never get a chance to see in its normal primitive settings. It's a museum of Neolithic art preserved in time . Totally worth it .

Things like Bhimbetka makes me feel proud that I am a traveller. Thousands of years old cave paintings preserved by nature and open for all to witness the marvel, it's quite overcoming. As a place its quiet and simple, enveloped in the Vindhyas range. There is a painting of men in arms dancing and we realized only when the guide... More

For travelling to this place you will have to hire a taxi or you can take a local bus, but, no train stops here. When you reach here you will really enjoy the scene (only at the time of rainy season), this is a hilly area where you can a temple too. The archaeological department has marked several places where... More
