I didn't know what to expect before I got to Bhimbetka. I had seen pictures of it all over the internet, showing various stick figures. Once I got there, it seemed like all time stood still. This was indeed a piece of time gone by. Today we take photos and preserve them to have a look at them as we... More

Not very far from Bhopal - about an hour. Caves and paintings of prehistoric times discovered by Mr Wakankar an archealogist who got the Padma Bhushan for that. It is believed that the Pandavas came there and Bhim rested there. It is now a heritage site.

1. Nice place to see the historical facts and painting. 2. Total 15 shelters are there, out of which first 4 are very good and upto 11 caves are quite good, so if you have less time or energy then do not waste you energy to explore all 15 shelters. 3. Total time required : 2 hours during summer time... More

Just 60 kms south of Bhopal on Hoshangabad, is this world heritage site, rock paintings from the chalcolithic age. The easiest way to reach there is to drive down, I would also recommend a meal or snack at the MP tourism place on the turn in to Bhimbetika The best season to visit is winters or just post monsoons when... A beautiful setting with impressive rock structures and paintings - the guides are inexpensive and helpful in pointing out the whereabouts of the paintings and their period.

Easiest way to visit from bhopal city on a economic way is to take a city bus to board office site, then change the bus and take a local/private operated bus to abdula gunj bus depot. Take a private taxi that comes to 1200/- and fix as a package for both bhimbetka and bhojpur temple site, which you need to... More

I do not know why this place has not been given so much attention as Taj or any other place of interest. You go back into prehistoric phase of human civilisation when we were still developing. The paintings on the rock caves, from monochromatic to multi colour. Understanding their lives rather our lives, then. Water markings on rock thousand of... More
