If you are in Bhopal - which in itself was a pleasant surprise for us having gone with no expectations - you should definitely take a few hours to go visit Bhimbetka. It is a UNESCO world heritage site - only one of three in MP. Amazing journey into the past...very well maintained..and enjoyable for kids as well. You can... More

Bhimbetka, a rocky mountain, near Bhopal, the Capital of Madhya Pradesh, India is about an hour's drive. Bhopal is well connected by Rail and road with both Delhi and Mumbai. The place is famous for the paintings on the rocks more than 10000 years back, some of those are still clearly visible. Better to have a government guide to get... More

This place must be visited if you are in or near Bhopal. The simple cave paintings depict the life and times of the ancestors of our species.Fortunately, these rock shelters and the cave paintings are relatively well preserved, which is not very common in India.

these are a collection of unique prehistoric paintings depicting the life of that era. it is spread over a huge area full of rocks showing the presence of a small township. the place is easily accessible from bhopal on the way to pachmarhi and worth the half an hour spent on the way.

Amazing place about 60 kms from bhopal. It's a place kids would love. Consisting of 15 caves And about 1.7 kms walk. Carry a good camera for pics which when seen again at home bring back good memories. Superb location with awesome view. In between a thick forest which shouldn't be ventured into!

If you are visiting Bhopal and/or Sanchi, you should include Bimbetka. It is located in pretty rural countryside with nearby villages that are interesting to visit. The tall, massive rocks contain primitive paintings made by ancient peoples that depict their life.

Its quite a few kms away from Bhopal....will take an hr to reach there. Dont forget to take drinking water along. Bhimbetka...name origin..."Bhim Vatika"...that is the garden where Pandav putra Bhim used to take lectures during his Agyatvaas. There are scripts over the rocks...many diagrams and few historical languages .....this is of archeological importance. Although rocky, the place is serene... More
