Rock art created by humans as early as approximately 15,000 years ago with intense and comprehensive approach. Worth spending a decent time along these rock shelters, where humans made rock paintings and amazingly visible in detail even now. Should have a bend for Cultural anthropology or history, if one is visiting this site. Please carry water bottles along with you,... More

Amazing place. Very close the Bhopal ( 46 km) and a very neat little highway rest stop makes it super convenient. Amazing to see the unspoilt and very well preserved heritage of human occupation in India since last 10k years. In fact, the earliest markings are dated to more than 50k years old. Very economical to visit and very few... More

The cave paintings take you back thousands of years back.. and must be one of its kind in India. Must visit. But take your water bottles and go there with loads of energy. It is a good walk.

You will feel the stone age living style in rock shelters. The place does not have much facility and you should carry food items and water for children, specially. You can spent 2-3 hours. Don't forget to have fun of rock climbing. wear sport shoes.

Could manage this trip on my fourth visit to MP. It's unbelievable. But be sure to take a guide, it's not very costly. Try to go early to get some solitude. The final stretch of road is really bad though.

The paintings, many of which are as old as 10000 years, are spell bounding.....one wonders how they were conceptualised with such details, or how the paints have sustained the pangs of time and weather for so long..... The only problems I observed are- 1) The toilets are a bit difficult to access through steps. 2) There are no convenience shop... More

Very well worth a visit from Bhopal. Has a local guide named Vimal at the site who gives a decent interpretation of the place. Otherwise also you can do a self guided visit. Dont deter your visit due to high temperature of Bhopal during summers, this place is cooler than you can imagine. You can find some Mouse tailed Bats... More

Near Bhopal the rock shelters with the paintings are very interesting. We spent about 1.5 hours in the area and looked at all the rock shelters. It is amazing to see how people lived in the BC. It is great that the government is restoring this monument. I had never heard about Bhimbetka and realised that it was very well... More

Not easy to get to without a car but well worth the effort. a trail has been laid out linking 15 of the best caves showing a range of paintings produced over the past 10,000 years. There are interpretation boards to help you get started but once your eye's adapt you will find hundreds of paintings for yourself. Please do... More
