Its quite a few kms away from Bhopal....will take an hr to reach there. Dont forget to take drinking water along. Bhimbetka...name origin..."Bhim Vatika"...that is the garden where Pandav putra Bhim used to take lectures during his Agyatvaas. There are scripts over the rocks...many diagrams and few historical languages .....this is of archeological importance. Although rocky, the place is serene... More

I visited this place with my wife and kid and we all liked this place very much. We all admired the paintings and exploring the paintings was quite an adventure. This place gave us some information about ancestor’s lifestyle and how they used arts for expression of different matters. You must choose the month of March or April for visiting... More

Extremely well cared for. It was a pleasure to see those ancient rock paintings so well protected. I kept returning to the views from A Passage to India while I was there.

The rock art here is spectacular! There is so much to see. There are animals, hunting scenes, parties, all of it so vivid and so ancient. The art tells the story of how our ancestors lived. It is worth the time it takes to get here and to spend here.

We went early to avoid the heat and had a great time. It is very clean, well maintained, and has many well placed signs describing the rocks. A must-see if you visit Bhopal as it is only a 1.5 hour drive from the citt

Brilliant.. I would say.. If you think this is just a piece of big rock, then it might not interest you. There's something similar to this in Karnataka (Yaana)... but this one was very good.. There are about 15 rock shelters and they are clearly numbered.. Also, don't worry about lunch/dinner. There's a MP tourism hotel (Retreat).. you can find... More

When you realize that people had been living in these caves thirty thousand years ago, you are awed. Youstart. Wondering what their lives must have lbeen and what the landscape must have looked like with all the animals roaming the grasslands and the mountainside. Kudos to the ASI for maintaining the place so well.

As reported by UNESCO the place is a world heritage site a place one should not miss when in Bhopal. The rocks, the carvings, the paintings themselves depict the sea level during the evolution of man. Can be visited in season, can be said as half day visit and remaining day can be spent at Bhojpur Temple on the way... More
