An astonishing array of decorated stone walls. We could clearly make out the animal species depicted by these stone age artists. Said to be 30k years old these paintings are akin to those found in Australia perhaps giving a clue to the common origins of ancient man. Well worth stopping off the main road for a couple of hours to... More

On a hillock, among the large rocks, in the shelters, the treasure of art by the pre-historic humans is worth sight-seeing, Hardly 50 km from bhopal, and well connected by road, a must visit place even for a nature enthusiast. The maintenance of the place has improved over the years but there's a lot more that can be done.

I visited the Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka twice while at Bhopal, taking a taxi from the state capital. On the first occasion we took the help of a guide and the second time I travelled with my partner and decided to go around alone. Nestled on a hilltop, the site of the shelters is truly beautiful, and so are the... More

The place is far off, but worth the travel, though not well kept and is neglected. Were able to see the rock paintings - really mesmerizing

I can only agree with all the previous posters, the place is an absolute delight to visit. The painted shelters are among a mace of towering sandstone spires half hidden in the jungle, connected with well kept footpaths. Even though only a small fraction of the painted shelters of the area are accessible to visitors, they give a very good... More

Sanchi on one side and Bhimbetka on another, make Bhopal a must-visit city. It has much to offer to an Indian tourist. The Bhimbetka caves site is well maintained as it's a Unesco heritage site and its 7 caves give a serene feel to a visitor of times gone by. Hire a guide for a 30-min walk around the caves... More

I will say its a must see place for every visitor who plan to visit this center India part. Although you have to carry food along with you as no restaurant is present nearby to this place. but still I will say you must visit the place.
