Caught the concert to support "Kicking Boundaries" here and it was so well put together. For a venue, it can't be beat. Not sure what goes on here otherwise, but if you are looking to throw a special event, this is the best one in the area. Lots of monkeys kicking around, cool architecture and a little shop.

I got a chance to see performances at the TIPA. The performances were awesome and shows a great culture of great people from a great land.

This place has a small museum displaying mannequins of different professions / roles of the Tibetan social structure...masks brought in by refugees while fleeing Tibet. Worth a look. Be careful about violent youths particularly angry with Indians.

I attended a birthday celebration here for the Karmapa and was brought to tears at the beauty of the dancing, the costumes and the singing. Thank you for preserving such an amazing cultural heritage!

TIPA is the best place to see traditional Tibetan performing arts, such as the "lhamo" (Tibetan opera) and folk music performances. Even when there's no performance happening, it can still be worth a stroll up the hill just to appreciate the views and wander through the forest with the monkeys. There were no performances when we went in May. And couldn't even visit the museum as it was closed on a Sunday. It's on the road to Dharamkot.

We went into the Institute and were welcomed very warmly. The Administrator arranged a tour for us even though we had not booked and conducted most of it personally. This included the doll museum (just as good as Norbulingka), student rehearsals, workshops, art studios and other areas. This was a really special part of our stay in Dharamsala. The Institute... The toughest place to get around by road... one road.. tooo narrow no traffic management specially on days of shows... you may waste hours to cover two km from Mcleodganj ... plan in advance..walk to the place is better..
