The farm produces the best cheese in the province. Highly recommended. Also offer an interesting tour of the production facilities at specific times of the day.

We visited in November 2015. My husband went for a cycle and I went for a walk. the host took great care to explain routes and make sure we were comfortable before setting off. There was a cycle race going on, but we could still carry on. There is a great shady part along the river which really gives respite... More

Wonderful cheese deli. Easy dining, very casual. Mingle with the locals. Excellent break away to the outdoors.

We visited Van Gaalen to eat lunch on our way. The lasagne was very very nice. The cheese platter was nice /average. The cheesecake is definitely not to be missed. We sat outside and it was very relaxing. Our plans for the day could not include the cheese tour.

We went on a wintery saturday morning to attend the cheese making guided tour. The in-house team takes your through the cheese making process in detail. It was interesting to know that the texture of a cheese changes with time, and over time gouda becomes parmesan and so on. The place is a quaint little place near hartbeesport. It is... More

We went on the cheese tour, which was ok, not sure if I would recommend it... The coffee shop and service was average. However the cheese they make on the premises was really good.

We love coming to Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij on a Sunday drive, making an outing for the family. Delicious breakfasts and lunch can be enjoyed in a farm atmosphere. Lovely lawns and play facilities for kids. Farm animals fenced off but visible for kids to enjoy. You can phone ahead and book a picnic basket. There are lovely little walks to... More

This is the perfect place to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon! The place has a great playground for the kids and a very nice terrace for drinks and food. They also do picnics, which we opted for. The picnic areas are really nicely set by a little river. There's also a little petting zoo and a shop that has a... More

To cycle or not it's a must. What a magic place to spend a Saturday or Sunday for lunch. If you are there to cycle even better. The course and beauty of this place is overwhelming. The shop has it all and a great way to end the day.
