The perfect venue for a romantic picnic. A cute little basket of fruit, meat and best of all - a delicious variety of Van Gaalen's cheese - is packed for you. To top the meal off - delicious dutch biscuits and chocolate pieces. You choose your bottle of wine and fetch an ice bucket and glasses and take a short... More

Beautiful scenery, delicious cheese platters every time we visit. One of our favourite places to take overseas guests

Enjoyed seeing and tasting all the different cheeses that are made on the premises. Lovely trip for the whole family. Also a lot of Dutch delicacies that's worth trying.

Although I've visited Van Gaalens on numerous occasions, I've never seen the cheese factory actually working. It is basically an open air eatery with a limited menu. It must have some value as I've been again and again. Maybe it's the variety of cheeses in the store, and the lovely fresh African air.

Limited menu - but as expected...lots of cheese options. The shop could do with some more friendly staff who actually want you to try the cheeses and entice you to buy. You get the impression they don't want you to sample their goods... Toilets need work. Bit dirty, urinals not working and no paper towels when I was there. Not... More

A well kept secret (I hope). This little cheese manufacturer nestled in the picturesque valley of Skeerpoort is a gem. Great surroundings (you might be lucky and see the vultures flying high on summer thermals). The cheese is excellent. The outdoor setting is lovely (where I go to unwind during the week). Service is good too. Views are something to... More

Breathtaking view, mountain trail for hikes and bikes also available but we didn't go, a scattering of farm animals and a jungle gym for the kiddies, would like to go back sometime for the cheese tour they make available every Wednesday and Saturday as the cheese I bought to come home with was really yummy. Booking is essential for the... More

Small portions and too expensive the setting is great as is the ambiance, would do good if bigger portions were served and possibly a craft beer?
