Used Apex as had read good reviews and was aware of the company through the television documentaries Air Jaws. Unfortunately booked out of season meaning seal island was unavailable so Apex acted as a booking agent to arrange cage diving in Gansbaai. By booking through this company we paid more than by booking direct with an operator in Gansbaai and... More

It is always hugely disappointing to come away with a 'miss' on any wildlife activity..... No matter how prepared one is for that 'miss'. Weather and water temp. play a big role in the way marine species behave. It has been 16 days of no shark activity in Gansbaai, an extremely tough time for all. The good news is a... More

My Husband and I are HUGE shark fanatics, I mean, we throw a shark week party every year. So we have always wanted to do this. On our cage dive, we got to see 4 great whites, 2 of them breached. Seeing these creatures up close and personal, is unlike anything you can even really describe. They're soooo massive and... More

Very nice place and awesome experience 👍 staff is very professional and explain you a lot of things about the great one. We had to wait about 40 minutes to see the first shark but after many others came attracted by the kind of blood soup proposed. The biggest was about 13 feet long and just made a pass.. But... More

We took the 7am boat out to Seal Island in False Bay. The entire 5.5 hour journey was absolutely incredible. We first saw a couple whales spouting in the distance. Then, we went through a pod of 3,000 leaping dolphins. At Seal Island, there were hundreds (if not thousands) of seals and the view of False Bay all the way... More

Great review, thank you for this. Every trip is different. June, July and August offer good chances to see sharks and whales on our trips. The seals are there all year round as are the penguins. The dolphins tend to appear March to May however they can be spotted in other months. Being in an El Nino year, anything can... More

I have so many positive things to say about this experience. The tour guides and crew were fantastic and the company as a whole is very well run. From start to finish they provided a very professional, safe, friendly, and educational experience. I highly highly recommend Apex to anyone who has ever wanted to experience diving with Great White sharks.... More

I always read reviews on Tripadvisor but I have never till now felt the need to write one! Knowing that I wanted to always get in the water with Great White Sharks I started to research the Best location & the Best Cage Diving Operator. I knew I only wanted to Cage Dive with a Professional Company who had a... More

My son and I used Apex to go shark cage diving in August, prime time to see Great White Sharks at Seal Island. The crew is knowledgeable, and we saw three Great Whites as big as 14 feet long, and it was a memorable experience While we were in the cage, we saw a shark make two passes close to... More

Thank you for the review. Wow, 45 minutes in the cage.....no wonder you were cold. We usually offer guests a minimum of 20 minutes in the cage however, when there are guests who do not wish to dive, there is the opportunity for those who are diving to spend longer periods in the cage. More

Thank you for the review however we don’t quite understand why 2 stars. The review states the guides were knowledgeable, the trip was well organised and we offered a discount even though we have a ‘sightings not guaranteed’ policy. Our communication to all guests on board this trip indicated the bumpy weather sea conditions as well as the poor sightings... More

I booked a cage diving trip through Apex, which guaranteed a boat of no more than 12 people and a cage that was limited to 3 divers at a time. Unbeknownst to our group, Apex outsourced our trip to Marine Dynamics, which included 40 people on a boat and approximately 12 people to a cage. Thus, the experience was much... More

It seems there is a lot of confusion. What research was conducted prior to booking? Was the booking made using information from a brochure and then booked online? Our website clearly indicates that we operate from Simon’s Town only Feb to mid/end September (depending on shark activity). This is where we host an intimate trip with 12 guests and 3... More
