We hiked to the high place of sacrifice from the staircase at the street of facades, then followed signs to wadi farasa, it can be handled without a guide. we only saw 2 couples in the whole day. The views were gorgeous and the caves, especially the ornate tomb. Well worth on a second day to get a sense of... More

Second time visit to Petra and only one of us made the climb last time. go early before its too hot and carry some water. wear walking shoes! Its a long climb but worth every bit - you could actually explore up there for a whole day. Teas and coffee at a cafe once you get there and plentyof seating... More

Could not find path from High Place down to Wadi Farasa. Ask a guide or perhaps take path from Wadi Farasa where it is signposted. More

Fantastic walk. Do this walk the other way round i.e..Wadi Farasa via High Place. The views going down from the High Place are in front of you and magnificent. Access to High Place between gift shop and Theatre. Series of stone steps on your left look out for donkey taxies!!!! More

This is one of the least climbed hikes in Petra, but is worth the workout. Keep in mind that there are no railings or the steps are steep and filled with sand. Watch your footing and take it slow. Takes about 1-1.5 hours (up and down combined). More

We made the steep climb with trepidation but were amply rewarded with the stupendous views from the top. It is a fantastic vantage point for a 360 degree view of the entire city and in my book would rate as high as the first look of the Treasury. Do it when you visit Petra. More

The walk up to the High Place has stunning views, although watch out if you suffer from vertigo as there are many steep drops, and no barriers ! It’s a wonderful walk, and the views are outstanding considering it doesn’t take you that long to get there. I would definitely recommend going back down via Wadi Farasa as this makes... More

If you're feeling fit, you must walk up the High Place of Sacrifice and then walk over the back into Wadi Farasa. The wadi was nice and quiet and very beautiful. More
