Dont be intimidated by its name. Yes it's "high" place of sacrifice but the climb is not high. It's rather rocky and the route comes with an awesome view! The steep climb that takes half an hour from the theater up to the sight on the summit is well worth the effort! Check the places and experience how the ancient... More

This is a challenging walk but it more than rewards the effort, especially the walk down the far side passed the tomb of the Roman soldier.

The high place of sacrifice is alright to visit but the main attraction on this trail is the views. The hike up to the place is mostly done in the middle of a canyon, so not much views to speak about. But once people reach the top, at the high place of sacrifice, it was fantastic views the whole way... More

The trail leading up is mostly stone steps but to get to the real high place you need to do a little climbing over rocks. It takes a little effort but the view is spectacular and worth the climb.

It takes a bit of effort to reach it but the views at sunrise and sunset are amazing. You can still see the altar for the ceremonies and just wonder...

A small group of us challenged a lot of steps and scramble sites in order to get to this location but it gives you a great look see at the valley in Petra where so many people are walking ...about 500 M below. A decent slog is needed but you feel you have accomplished something after doing it.

It is true, you get stunning views from all over Petra and this is no exception. Through my 6 day experience in Petra, lighting makes a huge difference, which would probably determine whether or not you think the views are good. Midday-2pm is too sunny, but I guess if you are on a day-trip, you can't be fussy. This steep,... More

A good hike to some of the most wonderful views in Petra. I suggest that you make the climb early in the day to avoid the heat. and crowds.

A long climb up (luckily mostly in the shade in the morning) of roughly 30 minutes, it's definitely worthwhile given what you see at the end. The walk up the steps takes you through a winding path up the canyon, and looking back will often leave you surprised at how high you've made it. Close to the top, look out... More
