Not so crowdy as Siq and other frequent places. It gives you views from different perspective. Takes cca 4-5 hours (counting stops for taking pictures or just gazing out) Can see everything in one day, so save it for 2nd day.

We visited this site when we went to Petra. There are a few steps to climb but worth it. You will be able to see down onto Petra and the other sites. I would recommend the climb.

Hard work to get to the top but so worth it. The views are spectacular and gives you a real appreciation for the size of Petra.

The stairs were quite the hike so go early in the morning if you can, before the sun become scorching. Even so, I would imagine that some sunset views from here would be magnificent since this place provides a near 360 degree view of Petra. What I really liked was departing from this high place out the "back door" (not... More

The views from the top and the way up there well worth the effort. When you get to the High Place, you can notice a few steps going down on the right of the altar. Take those steps, turn right and follow the arrows. At the end you get to an amazing view.

I did this on our second visit into Petra. The first day included a visit to the Monastery all 900 steps up and another 900 down. Not so many at this site and got two thirds up before I needed a breather. Pulse 116 but this had dropped to 74 near the top. Fabulous view and good photos. Only a... More

When at Petra, get to the High Place of Sacrifice. Take the Donkey up and walk down the back way. This gets you away from the crown of tourists, and gives a great view of Petra

Although a little expensive the mule ride to the top was more than worth it. The views going up are superb (and a little scary) and the view from the top is remarkable. The ride up is a little difficult and the walk up is very challenging. Save your energy for the monastery walk and ride the mules to this... More
