Great for a second day hike, but apart from the awesome vista point, the high place is nothing special, i would rather recommend wadi farasa via the high place (3h), which lets you see a lot more views and caves than just a round trip to the high place (maybe 1h30). More

Climbing the steps to the high place was hard work but certainly worth it. Sadly there was no one else there so we worried about the local economy More

lots of stairs to get to the high place. Beautiful view and beautiful rock at the top. Leave 1.5-2 hours for this from the bottom of the monestary stairs back to the treasury. its a great hike! More

You need to be very fit to climb such high place in Petra. Advisable to bring sufficient water. Its good is your climb has the sun from your back especially during climbing down to the other side (its the desert!) All the Bedoiuns can speak English! More

If you have few spare hours then you have possibility to extend the standard itinerary by visiting the cliff with High Place of Sacrifice. The great view of the valley is the reward for a quite long climb up. Most tourists are climbing to it using the 300-steps stairs in the middle of canyon and some of them use another... More

Although I stopped for a break several times during the climb I was glad that I had gone to the High Place. Take lots of water as the cafe at the top charges quite a bit for a small bottle of water. We attempted to go down the other way but after one false attempt that required ascending more steps... More
