Of course, as you might imagine, the place is amazing. And the way it comes to view the first time you see it is just as special. Down part for me was the fact that you can't enter it, but it's understandable since they've found another part of it underground and excavations are still going. Besides keeping it closed is... Stunning iconic view. You appreciate all the more through the anticipation as you walk through the siq to get here. Try not to be hassled by the children selling postcards, the guys selling jewellery and the hard sell on donkey and camel rides - everyone is simply making a living - and appreciates respectful and clear expressions of interest or... A great sight to walk through the Siq and then your vision opens up to the sight of the Treasury. Beautiful.

The treasury when you first see it hits you like seeing the Great Wall, the Pyramids, or the other great monuments on earth. For me, at 67 years of age and having visited more than 100 countries, it was one of the most impressive monuments I have ever seen. Don't rush it, sit down, look at it, let it imprint... More

At the end of a pleasant 2 km walk along the narrow generally paved sandstone canyon passageway, you emerged into a large natural square to be confronted by this massive beautiful tomb facade (scholars are still debating on its purpose) intricately carved into the canyon wall. Clearly, the ancient Nabataeans had chosen the site for the Treasury well; like a... More

Was kind of disappointed because we couldn't go inside. I was there back in the mid 90's and it was open then.

Getting to Petra early there was almost no one in front of me my whole walk in the siq, and when i arrived at the treasury there were three camels and two or three touts. Being there early in the morning it was mostly in shadow and the calm was astounding. I just stood there and stared up at this... More

Words can't describe it. Very historical and amazing. Go in groups and wear something comfortable to walk in. Plenty of security and friendly people.

You have seen photos and you have read about the Treasury, but the first site of it will be something you will remember for the rest of your life. Walking down the Siq is an experience in itself, but when you finally catch a glimpse of the Treasury through the narrow passage opening of the Siq.....you will be awestruck! It... More

We had a guide who explained the history of the building and the symbolism. Don't forget to look at the 4 burial chambers recently excavated at the foot of the building.
