It is lovely place, not overorganized: nice park under huge trees, remarkable well signed archeological and architectural spots. A lot ot birds singing around. We took three hours to walk slowly, to read all signs, to look closely details. There is a small museum inside park, definately worth to visit for overall understanding the complicated history of this site. There... More

We went to Butrint from Sarande for a day trip and used the local bus both ways. We went in the spring. It is very beautiful in the park, green, blossoms, cactuses, and lots of wild terrapins in the water. The ruins are well signed with explanations (I'm not so interested in ruins, but they were interesting enough). The place... More

We went on a day trip from Parga, trip also included a visit to Saranda. Roads are interesting alot are not tarmaced , but stick with it. Change coach at border with Greece and take off road it seemed, past the remnants of the pill boxes from another era, now painted and decorated with flowers, through the countryside to the site.... We went on a day trip to Albania from Corfu and visited the Blue Eye aswell as Butrint. We went by hyrofoil and then coach from the port of Sarande which was very interesting as most of the roads we went on were hardly roads at all! Very steep drops off the side to the sea which was fun when... More

We traveled from Gjirokaster to Butrint. Meanwhile we stopped at the blue eye. The road to Butrint is new and some parts are still under construction. Be aware that there no good signs on your way to Butrint if you come from Gjirokaster. In a village we saw a small white sign that showed us the direction, we were lucky... More

This was one of the highlights of my two-week trip through Albania. If you go in the summer, make sure to start early before it gets too hot. And bring your camera, there's some amazing architecture that you're allowed to walk around on and pose for pictures. More

I must say that our tour guide really made this an exceptional and highlighted excursion for us. Not only did his personal insight on how the park was created and the challenges Butrint had to go through in order to be what it is today...the "gem of the country". Our guide (Ani Tare) pride for his country and personal experience... More

We stayed in Sidari, Corfu during the last week of May 2011 and booked the exursion to the achaeological site of Butrint. This excursion was available through the local travel shops but after enquiring about the price it appeared that the Thomas Cook rep was offering the same price, which is very unusual. We travelled to Corfu Town by coach... More
