The centre gives the visitor a valuable insight into the lifestyle of Erris, Belmullet, Blacksod & Inis Gé Islands in times gone by. Ionad Deirbhile is a wheelchair friendly museum with a WiFi Café. All visitor information and tourist maps are available also.

Recommended by our host at a nearby B&B, we stopped in to ask Rosemary about my ancestor's surname. Sadly, Rosemary was not in BUT the ladies who were there were fantastic! While researching my wife's ancestry, we were directed to the Dierbhile Heritage Centre in Blacksod, County Mayo. From the moment we passed through the front door, we were treated very well. The staff was putting on a demonstration for a group of school children but greeted us warmly and proceeded to help us find my wife's ' long lost' relatives.... More
