Worth it! You can enjoy the sea breezee and enjoy the view of butterworth and penang island. Only you need to wait for 45min to get on the ferry! My god... hope they can increase the return and back ferry times.

During our latest vacation in Penang, we decided to stay at a hotel in Butterworth. The best way to commute between Penang Island and Butterworth was Penang Ferry. The Terminal is bit old but is going to be rebuilt as per the hoardings at terminal as part of Penang Sentral Development. We found the ferry very big, quite and easiest... More

I took the ferry from Georgetown to Butterworth. It is free to go in that direction and only 1.60 ringgit a to get back (about 25p!). The journey lasts for about 20 minutes plus loading. The ferries are frequent.

Taking the ferry was not on my agenda for quite sometime now...mainly due to waiting hours...but recently, I've decided to take the ferry together with a couple of friends...and, to our surprised...it was a very relaxing & fun experience as compared to the daily rush on the Penang bridge...the service has improved a lot...we had a great time taking about... Then, We caught the Free shuttle bus (curtesy of Penang port) to Jetty in front of the train station. The shuttle bus service runs on15 min frequency, starting from 6am everyday. It only costs us RM 1.20... More
