I've reviewed and used the Ferry by foot years ago but need to update. It's always magical to arrive in Penang by Ferry and view the island skyline, which at one time was the only way to get to the island before the advent of 2 bridges. Traveling from Penang to Butterwoth is still the same with easy access right... More

Just board the ferry on the way out to butterworth. Quite fast boarding. No hassle. A few travellers seen enjoying the scene. Toilet need attention for the cleanliness that can be improved. Safety signage should be improve. Please advice how the passengers should get their life jacket s. Warning sign should be more readable. I love penang.

Before the construction of Penang Bridge, this ferry was the lifeline of Penangatis..long queues waiting the 30min ferry ride..nowadays, the bridge cuts the travelling time by half.. Out of nostalgic feeling, went to the ferry terminal, n board the ferry last sept 14..From mainland, fee was rm7, n going back to mainland is free..same with the bridge.. Queue was ok,... More

As a resident of Penang, it is quite a routine to take the ferry to cross the sea as a mean of transport. However, I do not get tired of standing in front and see the beautiful view of the island. If you landed in Penang by flight and you have extra time to spare, I recommend you to just... More

Being from Seattle, I love ferries. And while these are no match for the super-ferries that ply the waters of the Puget Sound, they sure brought back my memories of them. These are smaller, and little bit more tattered - but there's just nothing better than walking aboard (or driving) and watching the container ships, the port, and the rest... More

We were going from Teluk Bahang to Pangkor by bus and took the ferry to Butterworth. The bus station in Georgetown is next to the ferry terminal and the ferry is free. It was a better option than getting the bus all the way around. Sat on the ferry with just locals and having a chat as we went was... More

Loved the ferry ride and so did our 8 year old. A great way to spend an hour or two. The ride takes about 20 mins, cars are transported too (either on the same level if it's crowded, or on a different level) so it's quite interesting. Even though we didn't do anything when we reached the mainland (we just... More

Runs on 24 hours service, with peak period up to 5-6 ferries operating, while past midnight only 1 ferry working. Ferries can host either 2 decks for cars and motorbikes and also those without them. Ferry fee is RM 7.70 for now for car and you only pay it one way from Butterworth port. Coming from Penang port, you do... More
