It is strange to think that this place has been occupied for a few thousand years, and that Alexander the Great passed through. Full of Georgian history, parts of the caves seem almost comfy. The prison cells, which are narrow holes in the rock, appear very unpleasant. Not at all handicapped friendly. Be sure to see the museum, and the... More

One of the oldest populated place in Georgia. About 60 km west from Tbilisi. Well dressed museum of the cave city. Entrance tickets costs 3,- GEL (abt. $15.) Local guides (quite well prepared) are available in English, German, Italian and Russian as well.

This lovely cave city is located about an hour out of Tbilisi and two hours from Kutaisi , Just outside Gori. The place is well preserved and is very impressive. If you're on the way to Svaneti or Batumi , you should visit this place. Even though the caves themselves are great , the wonderfull view in this sight is... More

The place is well maintained. If you can avoid it, don't go there on a cold and windy day as it is very open. Make sure you take a guided tour to get a good understanding. Just walking around isn't too great.

We went there as a group if friends by cab. We were there for about an hour including the museum but we could definitely have stayed longer. It is really fun to climb and walk around there, it is really peaceful and the view is amazing as well. Do not skip the museum, the short film in there gives you... More

when I saw this site, I immediately give a WOW. It's an incredible historical site which situated on a hill. People can easily clime up, it takes about half an hour. We went there with our sons, 5 years and 3 years, they did that all alone by themselves. The view is splendid from above. You can certainly make plants... More

It´s hidden from the common traveler path, but it is a precious historical Gem that can not be avoided when visiting Georgia. Very close to Gori and right in the middle of the ancient region of Kartli... One of the most ancient settlements in Georgia and one exceptional sample of a settlement built within a cave complex. The new museum... More

Absolutely you have to see this place. Ancient stone city. I spent about 2 hours to walk over. I think that it is goog to be there in Oct or Nov. It may be difficult to walk here in the mid season high temperatures.

We arrived mid afternoon and there were a number of large coach parties already there, this would be unremarkable elsewhere in the world but is not the norm in Georgia where you usually have things pretty much to yourself. It is only 3 Lari for an adult to get in so great value. You have full access to the whole... More
