I visited this ancient cave city as part of a business trip to Tbilisi. Our hosts took us there after our meeting and paid for an English speaking guide to tell us about it's fascinating history. It's quite a climb to the top - great for me, but it would be tricky for some. The incredible views from the top... More

This is a really special attraction; if you travel anywhere nearby be sure to visit here. We hired an English-speaking guide in advance from the ticket office and were glad we did. She helped make the rocks come alive for us. There are many stairs up, plus some very uneven paths over the stones, so be sure to wear shoes... More

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it is easy to understand why! The name itself means "Fortress of the Lord." It is not a difficult climb to maneuver through the area though there are some areas where you must mind your step. It is not the US where every guard rail imaginable is there to protect you. The rock-cut structures... More

Much better than expected. I would recommend taking a guide (15GEL) so that you can get to understand what each of the little feature are all about. Getting there is a bit of a mission. I would recommend taking a taxi from Gori. If you are going to go there , have a look at the Stalin museum in Gori

It is strange to think that this place has been occupied for a few thousand years, and that Alexander the Great passed through. Full of Georgian history, parts of the caves seem almost comfy. The prison cells, which are narrow holes in the rock, appear very unpleasant. Not at all handicapped friendly. Be sure to see the museum, and the... More

One of the oldest populated place in Georgia. About 60 km west from Tbilisi. Well dressed museum of the cave city. Entrance tickets costs 3,- GEL (abt. $15.) Local guides (quite well prepared) are available in English, German, Italian and Russian as well.

This lovely cave city is located about an hour out of Tbilisi and two hours from Kutaisi , Just outside Gori. The place is well preserved and is very impressive. If you're on the way to Svaneti or Batumi , you should visit this place. Even though the caves themselves are great , the wonderfull view in this sight is... More

The place is well maintained. If you can avoid it, don't go there on a cold and windy day as it is very open. Make sure you take a guided tour to get a good understanding. Just walking around isn't too great.

We went there as a group if friends by cab. We were there for about an hour including the museum but we could definitely have stayed longer. It is really fun to climb and walk around there, it is really peaceful and the view is amazing as well. Do not skip the museum, the short film in there gives you... More

when I saw this site, I immediately give a WOW. It's an incredible historical site which situated on a hill. People can easily clime up, it takes about half an hour. We went there with our sons, 5 years and 3 years, they did that all alone by themselves. The view is splendid from above. You can certainly make plants... More
