A once in a life time experience. Walk alongside Africa's most majestic predator. The "walking with lions" encounter is an opportunity to interact with young lions. The walks take approximately one hour to complete - depending on how fast the lions are prepared to amble - and a maximum of eight - ten guests can be hosted on each excursion. No leashes, No Collars, just a natural African Adventure.

We arranged our trip through Botlierskop Private Game Reserve and we were delighted to be walking with the same male lion that we had walked with a year earlier when he was a 6 month old cub. The majesty and the power of these animals is breathtaking and the experience is superbly managed by the team of guides and handlers... More

Incredible experience, you won't get closer to a lion than this, so in that I agree with all other reviews. Saying that (and full disclosure I am not an environmentalist), it's a very staged experience with the lions walking to the same spots waiting to be given away treat and the worst thing for me is that they are Cubs... Walking with lions - Zorgfontein We booked the walk with lions as a surprise for our daughter during our stay at nearby Mossel Bay. My daughter and I were booked on the early morning walk and upon arrival we were greeted by professional and friendly staff at Zorgfontein. Soon we could see the lions approaching ready for the walk. I had read the reviews on this and decided it was something I had to do. This was the most thrilling experience from beginning to end. I loved being in the open with these gorgeous cats but never felt threatened or afraid. The guides were fabulous and expert "photographers" and I am so glad I ventured out of my comfort... More

It was my first time walking with lions. I enjoyed it very much. It was informative, well planned and well executed by the guide, helpers and staff. They allow photos, so take a camera!

I was very relieved to read Stella from Mossel Bay's review (12 September 2014) below, as this is exactly how I felt - conflicted. I work in animal welfare and nature conservation, and any animal in captivity is an issue for me. However, I also deal with the realities of the world we live in each day, and have come... More

Was it amazing being so close to lion's ... YES for sure ... was it worth the money to see lion's that has been bred in captivity solely for the purpose of being exploited for money ... NO definitely not. I presumed that the lion's being used somehow needed to be rehabilitated and thus the reason why they were in... More

Dear Stella I am not sure weather all the details you have was understood correctly but just to assist in the actual details of the activity we offer. I hope and think this would clear the light on the walkig with lions experience. Firstly the lions are not purchased from a breeder - the lion cubs comes from various farms... More

Follow the directions as given on the Botlierskop website Location page. Minimum height of participant 140 cm , else lions can see you as prey! While reared by humans since birth and still are cubs and not full grown, these majestic creatures are certainly not tame .Do follow the guide and keep safe distance. Photo ops at predesignated spots. One... More

We were a family of 4, and enjoyed a walk with 2 lionesses - a white (3yrs) and a tawny (2yrs). We have had several lion walks in the past, usually they are young cubs, so walking with the older ones was unique. We did not have any other groups with us so we had the whole cat walk experience...
