Was it amazing being so close to lion's ... YES for sure ... was it worth the money to see lion's that has been bred in captivity solely for the purpose of being exploited for money ... NO definitely not. I presumed that the lion's being used somehow needed to be rehabilitated and thus the reason why they were in... More

Follow the directions as given on the Botlierskop website Location page. Minimum height of participant 140 cm , else lions can see you as prey! While reared by humans since birth and still are cubs and not full grown, these majestic creatures are certainly not tame .Do follow the guide and keep safe distance. Photo ops at predesignated spots. One... More

We were a family of 4, and enjoyed a walk with 2 lionesses - a white (3yrs) and a tawny (2yrs). We have had several lion walks in the past, usually they are young cubs, so walking with the older ones was unique. We did not have any other groups with us so we had the whole cat walk experience... We walked with the lions and did a horseback ride with the senior gamekeeper. Both were perfect! But for us the horseback ride was something we will never forget and hope to do again in the future!

We visited late in the day and were expecting a refuge or rehabilitation center, unfortunately what we found were 2 gorgeous trained 'cat models' who are poked and prodded with sticks until they look at the camera for groups of tourists posing and petting them. They are so beautiful but once we realized how manufactured this experience was (at the... More

Dear Reviewer The lions must respond to a series of commands and instructions to ensure that their attention is securely focused on the handlers working with them, so that they don't start looking around too much and get interested in playing with a guest's strange jacket or something. We do want our guests to have a nice engaging experience and... More

Location of Zorgfontein in Tripadvisor is about 100 km off. Co-ordinates for GPS are: 34°00´21.74" South, 22°11´18.60" East. So Zorgfontein is NOT south to Mossel Bay, rather 50 km east. How do I know? Was there last january. The experience is just as excellent as others write. Go there and have the adrenalin rush of your life.

The idea that you can walk with Lions and interact with them is truly crazy. But it ranks as one of the more unforgettable experiences you can have in a place like South Africa. The Lions are captive and have never been in the wild. They really are not dangerous other than the fact that a lion is always a... More

This experience is definitely worth paying extra for! It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Our guide was really helpful and knowledgeable. We walked really close to the lions and were able to take lots of pictures stroking them.

I booked an early morning walk as read that the lions would be more active as it was less hot, this was spot on and even better there was only us 2 on the walk so we got to spend all the time with the lions and chatting to our guide. We arrived to a lovely welcome and swiftly met... More
