Whales in the wild is the way to go. This is a professional operator, with a great boat (easy to get in and out and safe) and an amazing crew - Sione and Masi. Phil is extremely friendly, kind, easy going and helpful and will do his utmost best to make your experience worth remembering. He respects the fact that... More

Swimming with the whales was the highlight of our round the world trip and we can’t thank Whales in the Wild enough for making it such a memorable day. We had four guides on the boat due to it being the end of the season and they were all amazing at spotting the whales. We were lucky enough to swim... More

I was very impressed by the Whales in the Wild operations. I am a marine biologist myself and also an eco-tourist guide, so I know how challenging it is to find a fine balance between well-being of the animals and delivering the experience to the clients. Whales in the Wild team was very professional, well-organized, communicable and, most importantly, they... More

If there is a rating higher than 5 stars then I would be giving a better review. Fantastic experience, swam with whales many times and the crew were really conscious of being whale aware. Told us all about the experience to expect and how we would be able to swim and not impact on the whales. Great local knowledge, great... More

This operator is the real deal. Professional, respectful of the whales, and the rules but still manages to find whales for us to swim with. Get within an arm length off if they head your way. Phil and his team rock.. Seone is a great spotter too. Whales in the Wild was recommended to me from someone who had done... More

This was a great experience. Phil and his crew were professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to swim with the whales multiple times, and we even had time to go snorkeling and check out both Mariner's Cave and Swallows Cave on the way back. The equipment was good quality and the food, drinks and snacks were great... More

I did not think it possible, yet in every respect this second trip was even better than my trip of the previous year . Phil and his team run a very relaxed and smooth operation and a second boat gives him some flexibility in the event of the unexpected eg late requests for another trip. This time I took five... Only had 1 day to do the whale swim and unfortunately even though we saw a number of whales none of them were travelling slow enough to allow a swim. The crew travelled us far and wide over the day to get us a swim but whales are "in the wild" and it didn't work for us. A lovely lunch... More

After 4 days of commuting from Melb to Aukland to Tonga and then finally Vava'u (wondering are we sure this is worth it ) we had our first whale dive today. Set out at 7.30 am and the first group of 4 (only 4 allowed in at a time ) went in for 1/2 hr then when it was our... More

Phil, Renata, Sione, Masi and the rest of the team are brilliant. We had the most amazing experiences with these giants of sea. We also had a chance to snorkel around some beautiful coral reefs and swim in a couple of the caves around the area. Not only does Phil supplies snacks, lunch and drinks on the boat which is...
