My boyfriend and I were travelling with his parents and we wanted to get a tour that was a little bit more than the basic ones going to Salar de Uyuni and we booked our tour from a travel agent in La Paz. We paid quite a bit extra, about 700US to go 3 days with Senda Andina on their... more

This tour has been one of our highlights of our South America trip so far, you see such amazing scenary like nowhere else on earth. It is also a very affordable trip for 3 days all inclusive. We travelled on 2 November with Estrella del Sur who are based in SPDA, Uyuni and Tupiza and they were faultless. Our driver... more

We were almost frozen solid, the wind and sun burnt the skin off our noses and our accomodation was so bad we didn't sleep a wink over 3 days, but the whole experience we had was absolutely amazing and the highlight of our time in Bolivia. The colours of the landscape (especially the lagoons) were really beautiful and seeing the... more

one of the drivers got drunk the second day and a client had to drive the land cruiser...that day we had to rush through all of the sites (we missed the last lagoon) so we could reserve a spot at the hotel where we supposedly already had reservations....our guide said there were more people reserved there than there were beds...also... more

We booked our Salar de Uyuni (salt flats) through Extreme Expeditions (situated in Wild Rover Hostel and also on Sagarnaga Street). Extreme Expeditions booked us on a tour with LAGO MINCHIN, a Uyuni tour company. At face value the company seemed like a good company - meeting us at the bus etc. However, they were after every cent they could... more

We booked the one day trip at Estrella der Sur. Maybe we would have done the three day trip but the train to Oruro does not leave every day. The trip was amazing! At august 1st the Bolivians pay tribute to the god of the earth (Cochabamba). When we came to the Island in the saltlake all Bolivians were stone... more

Rivals Galapagos in Scenery and wildlife, but the infrastructure and expertise in guides is limited. Getting there is a feat in itself but once there the sites are breathtaking. Worth seeing, especially if you love anthropology and biology, and geology etc.just beautiful. Mummies in original site, and the bottom of ocean floor uncovered and frozen for 16 million years! 2... more

On the third day, our guide Juan was missing when we as a group were up at 5 am, ready to leave for the last day of the tour. The guide showed up at 7.30 am (temperature minus 10 degrees) and was drunk as never before. Ofcourse he was in no condition to drive, so after all kinds of hussle... more

We booked a three day trip around the Salar de Uyuni going from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama. We chose the travel agency "Estrella del Sur" as we had a recommendation from a friend. We booked the tour and payed more thant the average (600bs) as we really wanted to have a safe car and good experience. But unfortunately... more

Avoid the three day trip: it's unprofessionally organised, involves too much road time and is overpriced. Instead do the one day trip to the salt plains and negotiate - you should be able to knock a fair few quid off the price. What you miss out of those two other days (lakes, lakes, more lakes etc) you can see elsewhere... more
