Went on a tour from a cruise ship, the result - too many visitors going round a very cramped house. Made it a long drawn out visit with too much waiting around. In December the grounds were not particularly interesting. For me it was the least interesting place in our Caracas tour.

We were visiting Caracas, Venezuela for one day on a private tour, and added a visit to the Museum of Colonial Art at the last moment. It was one of the highlights of the tour, as the colonial house and gardens are lovely, and very picturesque for photography. By the way, we heard many warnings about Caracas, but I felt... More

Why this? A well balanced blend of local colonial time history plus lush tropical gardens encapsulated in quiet space amid a pretty noisy and not so safe neighbourhood. Worth venture it. Compulsory guided visit with some chance of finding a bilingual guide .

Not at all sure why others have complained in Spanish and in English that the environs are super dangerous. Please do not let this deter you. Caracas is a madhouse, yet this place is superb. I did the guided tour in Spanish with Ambar, who was fantastic. There were three of us in our group: me, the driver and a... More

An oasis in Caracas, perfectly restored historic house, with a beautiful collection of paintings, sculptures and every day objects from the Colonial times. A great taste of traditional Caracas

It has a museum, and the house and grounds are well kept . Unfortunately there is a slum area just next to it making the entrance a bit dodgy and dangerous and drawing out any pleasure in going there. On occasion they hold classical chamber music concerts on sunday mornings. do not visit on a busy weekday, saturday or sundays... More

Enter through tree- shaded drive and the restored 18th C. Spanish country house charms you. On a cool hillside, youthful volunteers give a guided tour for 45 min. of the 22 rooms. Lovely hand painted walls, period furnishings, garden and patio with calabash trees. Many works of silver, ceramics and religious items. Women's parlor, lovely inlaid furniture, impressive living &... More
