The central university of Venezuela (UCV, Universidad central de Venezuela) is huge, lots of green for eco friendly people, great for studying or relaxing.

Declared a UNESCO world heritage site and home of the most prestigious public college in the country, the ciudad universitaria designed by the famous architect Villanueva is a place where, despite the lack of good maintenance (due to a budget shortage imposed by the actual government), you can watch macaus flying in couples to their nests, take a break in... We stayed in a kind of bungalow in the garden. It is very quiet and the garden is beautiful. Ideal to spot little animals, like birds and insects Diner was very good. The art is interesting, we bought some art. His wife is very friendly and does her best to make you feel at home.

The campus has many artistic treasures, but it is not very well maintained and unfortunately, there is a security issue. I was told by a faculty member that it is not recommendable to stick around after 4 p.m.

A great design by Carlos Raúl Villanueva, worldwide know Venezuelan architect. Definitely must see if you are an architect or into architecture. Campus' general lay-out is designed in harmonious with landscaping and embrace the buildings delicately and became like one. Especially the architectural faculty is a masterpiece. Architect had succeeded in the design that the sunlights fall on the dark... More

Among trees, sculptures and modernist architecture are in perfect harmony among big trees, manicured gardens and murals from latinamerican and europeans artists from the 50's: such as Calder, Miro, Vigas... A must see when visiting Caracas.

I found the Ciudad Universitaria a little disappointing. Maybe my expectations were too high as I knew it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Most of the mofern art there is from the 60's and the 70's and some of it looks run down, particularily the library.
