Presepolis was built in 500BC (that's 2,500 year ago) by the Achaemenian Kings Darius, Xerxes and their successors. There's so much history here. Modern day Iranians view the ruins of Persepolis in a fashion similar to how modern Egyptians view the pyramids: symbols of national pride This is a truly glorious site. Wow I walked in the foot steps of Kings Xerxes and Darius both mentioned in the Bible as well was sorry the Alexander the great decided to burn what must have been a spectacular feat of engineering, to the ground. more

Persepolis is the main attraction in Shiraz so be sure to include it in your itinerary, especially if you like seeing ancient historical sites. We arranged a private taxi with our hotel to take us to the historical sites of Persepolis, Naqsh-e Rajab, and Naqsh-i Rustam for about 300,000 IRR. more
