Lovely gardens, will return in the future. Lots to see and lovely cafe to get lunch. Only drawback is no dogs allowed which can be difficult when on holiday.

Had a fantastic day here - loads to see and do. Had a lovely lunch too in the estate cafe/bistro. Home made soup with home made bread. Staff are excellent.

Beautiful gardens, large grounds to discover and to spend a nice afternoon walking by. They are kept very well. We have been in a few occasions and never grow tired of walking inside threave. Magestic!!

This National Trust for Scotland property is a must see if you are visiting Dumfries and Galloway with a variety of gardens and a historic house, we have visited twice at different times of the year we are told early spring is spectacular with a large number of daffodils. This visit was a bit disrupted by the upgrading work that... More

I had visited these gardens before but over 25 years ago so when the opportunity arose for a second visit, I didn't hesitate! There is so much to see at these wonderful and interesting gardens run by the National Trust of Scotland. There are magnificent specimen trees, colourful, varied borders, fountains and abundant wildlife. Even in September there was so much... More

The gardens were lovely but with the hide I would happily give it 10 stars. If you follow the main path up round the gardens and through the gate onto the woodland walk you will reach the bird hide. There are feeders which attract a range of birds but they also attract Red Squirrels. We sat for ages, entranced, watching... More

We were on route from Dumfries to Kirkcudbright so stopped off at Threave Gardens for a visit. The main access and drive was closed off for maintenance when we were there so entry was round the side. Overall nice gardens with some themed areas which were mature and well maintained. We went up to the woods on the higher ground... More

We visited in Sept 2015, on a day of mixed weather - sunshine and showers. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the grounds are well maintained. Some of the paths are quite steep, but there are plenty of benches, to sit and have a rest on, so everybody should be able to enjoy the grounds, regardless of any... More
