We were in the area on holiday and decided to visit the gardens absolutely fabulous so well designed loads of different plants to see and named for us less knowing than others.Great tearoom at reasonable prices. We joined the national truat here and were delighted to know our fees went straight to threave gardens. Well worth a visit

Called at the Threave Estate cafe for lunch, as was passing by whilst doing the Carlingwark Loch walk with our x2 dogs. Dogs not permitted in cafe or at cafe outside tables, however you are allowed to order and sit on one of the two benches outside the entrance & eat on your knee. Some dogs water bowls at side... We called here for a visit on our recent holiday in Scotland. The reception building is really modern and has a good shop and cafe, where we had tea and a cake after our walk round the gardens. The gardens are really extensive and have lots of different areas to explore. They are set on a hillside and there are... More

We booked a house tour (recommended) for the morning, unfortunately we missed it due to Something happening just before we left, so got there an hour later than planned. The lady we spoke to was very helpful, and managed to get us in for a later tour. The house tour was very interesting. A lovely building and the tour guides... More

The gardens were lovely here. We spent quite a while admiring the contents of the walled garden especially the wild garden. So colourful. Shop well stocked. Our only disappointment was that the house was closed due to a vintage tea function on which was fully booked so couldn't see the house. Sat opening at weekends would be advantageous. Not just... wonderful gardens in a peaceful setting, good walks around the grounds, with the option of longer ones for the more energetic, with a meal/snack and a drink in the cafe afterwards - with some retail therapy in the shop and plant center if required.

We recently decided to visit Threave during a camping trip to Loch Ken, and we were not disappointed!! The place is simply stunning, very well kept and such an amazing variety of plants and shrubs etc. We spent the better part of half a day simply wandering around taking in the scenery, even managed to find the honesty box to...
