Very disappointed - did not open until 11.00 and we had other places to visit. As National Trust members we felt let down
Spent an hour here en route for weekend away .. Will visit again & spend more time .. I enjoyed the gardens and staff working in gardens were pleasant and hospitable . I can't say the same for staff at entrance, they appeared slightly disinterested . Lovely gardens , well worth a visit .
Easy to understand why Threave Gardens are one of the National Trust for Scotland’s top ten most visited attractions. This is must visit for anyone visiting Dumfries and Galloway. Very worthwhile joining in with a guided tour of the house - fascinating.

These gardens are some of the most attractive and well maintained of the many gardens I have visited in my life, both here and on the Continent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our Scottish national Trust Guide, Des, made the visit to Threave House an added bonus. Well done to the students who keep the gardens up... More
Beautiful gardens so many hidden areas to explore kept us interested for 2 to 3 hours including my nine year old... . Tea room great.
This property and garden is part of national Trust for Scotland, Sited a few miles from the town of castle Douglas, well signposted. An array of gardens including the beautiful walled garden , the backdrop of the Scottish landscape provides amazing views. There is a cafe and a shop on site and enough to make it a place to stay... Well, how do I start......at the beginning would be a good idea. The entrance area is very well set out and we were met by a very well informed, very polite gentleman who explained all about the gardens we were about to visit. He had a perfect manner and we set on our way to explore the quite large gardens.... More
the gardens are beautiful, particularly liked the walled garden. A relaxing and lovely day. Staff also were lovely and lots of reasonable priced plants for sale.
