We are NT members so were able to visit Threave Gardens for free. We collect passport stamps are were delighted that we were able to get our passport stamped here although the stamp was rather elderly and they weren't going to replace it. A shame and I think NTS should start up their own passport scheme like the NT has.... More

Myself and two friends decided to spend a few hours at Threave Gardens, have a light lunch and a garden walk. We all enjoyed our lunch in the restaurant, nice food, busy venue. Only slight criticism would be that the menu was limited, no cooked meals. Thankfully the weather stayed dry and we had a lovely walk in this splendid... More

This is a lovely, varied, informal garden with lots of different areas to explore. Lots of space for the children to run around without bothering anyone. There is a small play area. We also enjoyed the bird hide in the woodland area, we hoped to see red squirrels but probably weren't patient enough! We did see lots of different bird... More

We have visited these gardens on each family holiday near Castle Douglas. The gardens are well kept and with plenty of benches to rest on, it's an ideal place for a picnic lunch to be enjoyed. There

Lovely wee lake to walk round. Really pretty. Nice place to dog-walk or just to wander aimlessly for a short while. Popular spot for picnics.

Unfortunately we'd just missed the last guided tour of the house and visitors cannot view the house without a guide. However, the gardens are worth a visit. I only wish I could visit again in summer bloom as some areas were definitely still in winter state. I enquired about the bats but unfortunately they were still hibernating, lovely ladies behind... Hi - thank you for your review. I am sorry that you missed the last guided tour of Threave House. The tours are delivered by our excellent volunteers, usually on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. It's always advisable to check times and availability in advance, as sometimes the house is used for very special wedding ceremonies. Thank you for your... More

Lovely gardens and cafe. Spent a good few hours walking around in a peaceful location. Only fault was has to pay for a paper guide even though paid quite an expensive admission fee.

Threave Gardens are excellent place to visit when you are in Castle Douglas area. Grounds are well maintained, offering a great diversity of plants displayed in various areas. We even noticed plenty of red squirrels and one black squirrel! Very polite staff will serve you tea & cakes or offer advise in the shop/information point. It was a really good... More

Beautiful gardens and a lovely place to relax and enjoy the well kept estate. The various features are well worth visiting and a final stop in the cafe for coffee and cake with a wonderful view over the gardens.
