My boyfriend and I went here for the day. We Started at Threave Castle which you park outside an information hut which tells you about the Bats and Ospreys. You then follow the paths and the gates which you have close behind you to the jetty where the you have to ring the bell and the boat comes over from... More

There is no entry for the gatehouse so i am just going to write it here... National Trust Threaves cottage and surrounding area – nice place, funny(read low) ceilings upstairs and super high ceilings downstairs. 2 bathrooms. Bring your own toilet rolls, food, soap/shampoo - they supply towels and there were some cleaning supplies in the kitchen but seemed to... More

We came here as a stop off before going to Southerness. We thought we would only be here a couple of hours and ended up spending a full day here just in the gardens. My eldest loved exploring all the trails and going off finding things. The gardens are perfect for finding hidden treasures. The advice given to us by... More

went with our local organised bus tour 14 of us. lovely sunny day which probably helped with the garden tour. £6.50 to get into the gardens unless you are a national trust member then it is free. I think there are about 30 acres of garden all set out into different areas. secret garden, walled garden, woodland, ponds, sunken garden,... More

I visited Threave with family on a very rainy day last week. We were met by very friendly and knowledgable staff, who recommended we book onto a guided tour of Threave House. Our tour guide, Margaret, did a great job of telling the fascinating story of the house and its owners. The tour took just under an hour and a... More

The house was a lovely venue for my friend's wedding ceremony and the reception was held in the visitor centre, which my friends was able to decorate beautifully. The food was fantastic! Unfortunately it was raining quite heavily all day so I didn't get to explore the gardens but it looks very pretty, even in the rain!

We had perfect weather for our visit and were greeted by a very enthusiastic gentleman in the gift shop, who explained the best way around and what not to miss. He said, "...please do walk on the grass and explore". We also bought a map for 50p, which was money well spent as we would almost certainly have missed something... More
