This garden and estate is a botanical masterpiece! The beauty of the planting and landscape are so understated that it literally takes your breath away at every turn. Seating is available strategically placed to take in the views and not a " keep off the grass" sign in sight.

Lovely restaurant, and food good, but went to have a look around the gardens but at £6.50 each person, it was a bit much .

One of the joys of being in the Castle Douglas area 3 or 4 times a year is seeing the National Trust Garden through the seasons with its well thought planning and layout a centre for local activities and well used by visitors and locals alike. A busy cafe and restaurant with superb soups. The walled garden has been turned... More

Visited here on 22 June. Lady guide round house very amusing and well informed - took 1 hour 40 minutes - a tad too long - but she had so many stories to tell. Huge, well kept, beautiful gardens. 3 full-time gardeners and 6 students. Unexpectedly spent 5 enjoyable hours here.

The gardens at Threave (managed by the National Trust for Scotland) are well worth a visit. They cover 64 acres and took well over an hour to wander around. There was plenty of interest to see.

I visited Threave Garden in a large group with 3 1 year olds and a 3 week old baby! The staff were very helpful to us and didn't mind us taking up a lot of space with all the baby gear we had. We will definitely be back to visit again soon with them all.

My wife, 8 year old son and I visited on a sunny day and were rewarded with wonderful colours and views at every turn in this fantastic garden. The welcome is excellent and Neil explained a lot about the garden, its history and features. Everywhere was well maintained and contained interesting mixtures of flowering shrubs and trees, mixed with water... More

This Garden is actually a teaching garden and as such has lots of different areas done in different styles. it is definitely worth a visit, a great place to picnic if the weather is good, or a stroll in the evening as it stays open quite late

Lovely garden complemented by a lovely lunch in the cafe. The planting and garden design is well conceived inspiring you to look at your own garden in a new light.
