A great little museum of early settlements and life in and around Gairloch. I was really impressed with the Frisnell Lens from the Rubh Reagh lighthouse. Good value for money

We had been before,a number of years ago but I had completely forgotten about it, for a small unit it was crammed full of the history of the area. The lady at the desk was really helpful. We were there around an hour and a half and I am sure we didn't see it all, it was kinda like looking at... More

Thoroughly enjoyed this venue. Lots to see and very informative. The black and white photo gallery was amazing. Gives an in site to how hard life was on the crofts.

We are very glad you enjoyed the museum - thanks for visiting. Our photographs are always popular. We have a collection of 3500 historic images of the area. In the future, we hope to be able to display more of them. More

Way better done than many local museums. Well-organized, interesting exhibits, and a few very unusual items, like the huge lighthouse lens.

Thank you for your visit, and for being so positive about the museum. We are very proud of our lighthouse lens, particularly given its local connections. It is a very beautiful object. More

I really enjoyed my visit to this museum, definitely worth the small entrance fee. You leave feeling like you understand a bit more about the area. Go for if you want to learn about the history of the picts, the local highland industries, or the creation of the Free Church!

It may be small but had a great sense of presenting local culture and history in an interesting way. Well worth visiting.

We stumbled across this as we spotted the nearby public loos (which were the cleanest public loos I think I've ever encountered outside of the USA!). It's a small local museum and I particularly enjoyed the presentation of a family during WW1 which was very poignant. This is a great place to while away an hour, and the cafe is... More

Excellent artefacts relating to the history of the locality. A very good display commemorating World War one is presently on show.

Very compact and interesting. It cost us £3 to get in and we found it worthwhile, especially on a dismal day. It portrayed life as it was in Gairloch over the years and the WW1 exhibition was worth the entry fee.
