We were the first to arrive in the morning so we had the castle to ourselves for a short while. There was a small exhibition in the shop which we looked at for some history. The castle looks larger in photographs than it is when you are there, but there is no doubt it is a grand castle and one... More

Visited last week on a bright chilly morning and found the castle to be very interesting. A climb up the spiral staircase to the top of the keep is worth the great views of the surrounding countryside. We decided to join English Heritage while we were there and the lady on duty was extremely helpful and informative.

This is a ruined castle but if you bring along your imagination you can see this would have been an impressive military base and comfortable living accommodation fit for a King. Middleham itself is well worth spending time in being picturesque and providing good eating options.

It had been years since we were last at Middleham Castle so decided to revisit. It is an amazing place and even with all the latest on Richard III certainly worth a visit. There is so much to see within the castle, the towers, cellars, kitchen, Great Hall. It only requires a little imagination to take you back in history.... More

Atmospheric building. Beautiful setting in the village looking out over the surrounding countryside.

Just very interesting with quite a bit to read . Seats to rest on on a lovely day. A small gift shop attached and a little history museum there as well. If you can climb stairs go to the top tower and look at the stunning views

Parking can be hit and miss here, but worth the effort. Disabled toilets are a few yards away in the town. Beautiful views, lots of history, and can be toured in quite a short time.

Wonderful. Interesting for adults and great fun for children, who are not told to "keep off the walls"! Ideal place for my granddaughters Thalia (5) and Layla (4) to be princesses on the look out for monsters lurking in dark places.

This is another great castle ruined as a result of the English Civil War. The main buildings have no floors, but a mezzanine level has been installed in the middle of the keep and there is a staircase to the highest part of the castle. Richard III spent his childhood and youth here. English Heritage have a number of information... More

Plenty of refreshments once you get to Middleham. Very small place but has plenty of character. I would think it would be very quiet in the evening just the job if you wish to have a quiet stress free beak.
