I love this castle. Even though its a ruin it has a fascinating history being the favourite palace of Richard III. There's plenty of the castle still standing and you can easily while away a couple of hours. We would definitely book again.

Very interesting castle. Not huge but plenty to see. Won't take more than an hour or two unless your an enthusiast, but good non the less. Nice lady in the shop. We parked on road.

This historic castle, renowned for connections with Richard 111 and the Nevilles. Plenty to see as quite a lot of the castle remains, looking around the village some of the houses were probably built with stone from the castle. Reasonable admission charges Would not really recommend for wheelchair users as they would be unable to access the upper ramparts due... More

Visited with family including 3 boys aged 9, 5 and 4. Boys loved exploring all the nooks and crannies and the views from the top. Spent well over an hour there exploring. Brilliantly maintained castle and site and definately worth a visit if in the area.

I particularly like the way the English Heritage puts its mark on properties: interesting playthings and mementos for kids and adults both, free samplings to sip or taste, frequently included accompanying audio, worthwhile literature, and a consistently strong effort in maintaining properties as well as visitor safety. Membership is a compelling deal as in the more it's utilized, the greater... More

The castle is a lovely place to visit and step back in time. The lady who was in the entrance and gift shop was extremely helpful and advised us of other places of interest to visit in the area.

We visited Middleham on the off chance they would allow dogs we were so pleased to discover that English Heritage welcome dogs we joined almost on the spot! Gill was very welcoming and knowledgeable the castle is well worth a visit if you're interested in the much maligned Richard.

Richard and Ann lived here after they were married and I believe their son was born here. Unfortunately it rained the day we visited and everything is outside. So we did not spend as much time as we would have liked. However we still really enjoyed this castle and the historical significance of it. Extensive remains of the massive palace,... More

This is English Heritage at its best. The signage is excellent, clear and informative, yet not obtrusive. The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic and really bring the history to life. With Richard III being so much in the news it's an excellent reminder of just how powerful were the nobility. It is, quite simply, fascinating.
