I've been to Middleham a few times, but never visited the castle. So I really wanted to see it. It was a rainy day and we had the site to ourselves. But this gave us chance to take our time and read everything about it. The lady in the cabin was really nice, informative and friendly. When we'd finished looking... More

Paying £5 with charity contribution to see this place is not value for money unless you have a English heritage card then go see it.

Really enjoyable visit spent amid a fascinating piece of history. Open every Saturday and Sunday 10 am until 4 pm. £12.20 family ticket lasts all day, but entry to the fabulous gift shop is free. The favorite home of King Richard III, great views from the top of the keep, Prince's Tower, an exhibition, controversial statue, walks to the Cover... More

Very good historic building and lots of information. The guide is a must and the town of Middleham is a must to visit after and so Richard 3rd pub!

I thought visiting the ruins of this castle would be a quick break between walks around the town, but I was fascinated with the place and spent several hours exploring, piecing the castle back together in my mind, chatting up some of the other visitors, learning a bit of history. Wonderful!

My wfe and I have driven through Middleham many times and have seen signs to this place but had no idea it was such an amazing attraction with terrific history. It is only a hundred yards off the high street. Although it is a ruin there is enough of a building and descriptions around it to bring the place to... More

My wife and I have just joined English Heritage and as we were quite close to Middleham, paid a visit to the castle. It is in a beautiful spot, surrounded by stables, riding schools, grazing animals and wonderful views. The castle itself has pretty good access for all but disabled and pretty safe for children. The lady in reception was... More

Great remains & village but overpriced by English Heritage, if they charged slightly less they would get a lot more people through the door, a wasted opportunity

If you're a fan of medieval history, or have a fascination with Richard III then Middleham is definitely worth checking out. The castle is sadly mostly ruined, though enough is intact to give you a strong idea of its former splendour of one of Englands most infamous monarchs.
