Impressed, despite the gardens not being at their best in May

We were quite impressed with our visit to Rockingham Castle, with its combination of architecture, natural beauty and history. It seems to be well organised, and we had a decent lunch at the cafe. We didn't see the gardens at there best, however: to do that, one would need to visit while the roses are in bloom - maybe in... More

Visited Rockingham Castle today after Googling things to do in the area. Website was very informative. Staff on the gates were very helpful. Went straight to the cafe and the waiter was more than helpful, offering his opinion on dishes which helped us choose. Both meals came quickly and were more than ample for a light lunch. Very tasty and... More

Lovely large room for a quick lunch. Ordered our food and drinks which was soon arrived at our table. Staff were very helpful and I loved the room being in the castle grounds. My friend and I returned for afternoon tea and cake. I look forward to returning.

This lovely old building has lots of history and great views of the surrounding countryside. Little remains of a castle as most of the original castle was replaced with a Tudor house a few centuries ago. There is a very nice cafe, formal gardens and a very enjoyable "wild" walk around the perimeter of the grounds You should allow a... More

small castle set on a hill with views for many miles in clear weather, nice grounds to wonder around to,the castle itself is not massive but is nice to look around and view the antiques and paintings, and the guides in the room are full of information, they only downside was the admission is a bit pricey at £10.95 each.

If you remember watching the BBC tv series about the English civil war called the "sword divided",no doubt you were like me suitably impressed by the filming location. Now with all the research tools at hand via the internet, there seems to be no bounds to what we can learn about these gems from the tv world of yesteryear. The castle... More

Went on Easter Monday with a group of friends . We all went with our spouses and kids. We had a lovely tour of the castle. We saw some fascinating things, how they lived 100's of years ago. The ancestors of the Watsons originally leased the castle from the King oF England hundred of years ago and then eventually bought... More

I grew up looking at this castle and locals are dreadful for not visiting it, but I have been dozens of times over three decades and always find something I've missed. It isn't open as often as it used to be so check before taking the trip. The grounds are amazing and always well kept. You can stick to the... More

We've visited several times and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. Plenty to see in the cast?e, beautiful grounds to wander in and wide open spaces for children to run around in. One of the best children's trails we've ever seen (and there have been a LOT!) Cafe serves a small menu but does it efficiently and with a smile. Food has... More
