This is a place we went too but weren't really looking forward to it. Well what a nice surprise because we thoroughly enjoyed it. It's much smaller than we thought, a shop, two toilets then two rooms connected together round a central wall. The gentleman who gave is the tour has worked there for 22 years and what he doesn't... This museum is hidden away at the back of a gift shop. Tours run - I think - on the hour. Ours was led by a very knowledgeable man who guided us through a succession of wonderful music boxes, early gramophones and self-playing pianos. Well worth a visit.

We had driven along the Fosse Way many times and passed the signs to this museum. This time, we turned off (it's only a minute from the main road) and went inside. It could have been a bit stuffy and boring (as many museums can be) but many of the mechanical music machines were demonstrated for us - so it... More

An incredibly interesting experience made all the more pleasing by our guide David, whose enthusiasm and knowledge transformed the experience into something special. Well worth the very reasonable cost of entry. Just wish I could have afforded to buy one of the restored music boxes from the shop. Highly recommended.

An absolute delight and very strongly recommended. Our visit was enhanced by a wonderful guide, who has been involved with the museum since the 1980s. Superb, and great that dogs are welcome too.

Having lived nearby for 16 years I had never visited this place as I thought it sounded fairly boring, until some American friends came to stay on a rainy day. It was fascinating. When we walked into the tiny two room museum I thought it would take maybe a half hour to do, but the guide was excellent, very informative... More

We had a wonderful couple of hours here, not what we expected at all, as we only went to get out of the rain. ( Honestly ). Sally the guide not only educated us but entertained us too. Fascinating facts and figures, wonderful musical items, and the icing on The cake.........just for us! The Grieg original autographed piano roll. Give... More

We have three boys between the ages of 8-12 and they all loved this for different reasons. The younger ones loved the music and the older tended to enjoy the mechanics of it all. A big WOW factor.

A fascinating visit to this museum. A guided tour by Sally introduced a variety of old musical instruments, many of which were operated by bellows and / or wind up. Many were demonstrated, and music played. All from different eras. We saw early record players, even a very early "juke box". I would advise anyone ,an interest in music to... More
