The museum isn't vast, and it can be walked round in an hour. However if you spend time in each section there is much more than meets the eye. The collection is a real tour of the world, but the geology and Egyptian sections are my favourites. There are exhibitions which keep the content fresh. Look for the Anglo Saxon... More

Finally managed to visit this small but amazing museum situated beside the ruined castle in the town. Very interesting with great friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

This museum go the extra mile to make your visit memorable. The activities they put on for children are brilliant and always a big hit with my children. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very child friendly.

For a small town museum, I thought this was great. Lots of interactive displays, lots of interesting features and some impressive stick insects. Very friendly staff as well which makes all the difference. Lovely

A wander through history with some very strange items - I particularly liked the collection provided by a local gentleman which included Egyptian items and stuffed animals.

My friend and I visited the museum 13.4.14, we thought it would be a little museum with little to see, we were pleasantly surprised with the amount of history they had on display and the space in there, it was like the tardis. costing only £1.50 per adult, we spent 2.5 hours in there and didn't get to see everything.... What a good museum to visit. My family found it very interesting especially as it is only a small town. Some very good exhibits and well worth a visit. The gentleman on the desk was very helpful. We all had a very enjoyable visit.

Small museum, but something for everyone. Local, geology, variety of animals, for all ages. The children love it as they are encouraged to explore further particularly with animal information. Half terms and holidays there are special events which are well attended. Charge for adults, or a small annual pass. Easy walking distance of the town centre.....closed Mondays. The children love...
