We both had a brilliant day out even though it was bought as my Christmas present!!! The weather was pretty rubbish but it didn't spoil our day and we found lots of fossils that are now displayed on the kitchen window sill. Chris was an excellent teacher and I would love to do it again in better weather.

Our walk was great. We were a mixed group including children, parents and grandparents. Chris told us all about rocks and fossils before we started and explained the best ways of looking for fossils. We found quite a few fossils expertly guided by Chris. Chris was able to engage all, adults and children alike. Our children loved it, would definitely... More

This walk was absolutely great. Chris showed us the clues to look for when searching for fossils. I found quite a few ammonites, fossilised wood and spinal bones. The trek across the beach was well worth it and would definitely reccomend this for a fun day out. Chris is very knowledgeable and it's fantastic to smash open a few rocks... More

So you need waterproofs, small headed hammers, sandwich bags/ serviettes and a rucksack (for all the treasures you will find)....it is SUCH fun and educational. Chris is a star and entertains all no matter age / other....he is able to take the conversation to a range of capability levels. Recommend walking West of Charnmouth as you can really see the... We booked the fossil hunt with Nigel online over the Easter holidays. We met at the centre, on the Lyme Regis harbour (this is a room next to the Aquarium). With about 25 others Nigel gave an introduction to fossil hunting and the Jurassic coast using various examples. Both adults and children loved it. The hunt took us over to... More

I booked a fossil hunting tour for a group of three adults. We had all been fossil hunting before at Charmouth but, without expert knowledge, we were unsure where to look and therefore had had very limited success. Nigel’s skilled guidance and in-depth knowledge about the Jurassic period was very interesting and gave us an insight into what we were... More

When i first heard about the fossil walks i knew we had to go on one. The walk was great fun we got to learn about all the different fossils you could find on the beach. We found some perfect fossils that we had been allowed to keep with us. We had a large group but it made it even... More

This would have to be one of the highlights of our big trip. Brandon was friendly, relaxed and extremely knowledgable, sharing interesting snippets of history of the town and the region as we walked out to our fossil collecting area, passing through the spectacular "ammonite graveyard" on the way. His eye for fossils was sharp, and before long the kids... More

I've always wanted to do a guided fossil hunting walk and finally got my chance, with Nigel Clarke. He set the scene, showed us examples of the long extinct animals, their fossilized remains and introduced the scientific and common names. We were a large group but he had us enthralled throughout. When we were actually hunting for fossils, there was... More

couldn't be better! fortunately, it was a beautiful day over Easter when we were joining and enjoying a walk with Brendan. He's explaining three different ways to find fossils: 1) browse around on the floor (pyritised ammonites, a coin, old metallic owl: what could it have been?) 2) sand sieving (5mm pyritised ammonites, ichthiosaurus bones) 3) stone oppening of stones...
