Great place to visit any time of the year. Specialist plants include Magnolia Felix Jury absolutely wonderful. Wild flower meadow effect great and the Acer valley beautiful. The walled garden always fascinating and the arboretum getting better all the time. Try the food any time it's all good, cakes to die for!

One of the nicest gardens open to the public in UK. Relatively small, but with great variety of planting for year round interest. Good cafe in the house for lunches and snacks. Highly recommended by well known gardeners as well as me!

This was our second visit and was just fantastic. The garden has a magic all of its own and no matter where you look, there is always something to see and so much colour! The staff were really friendly and helpful (especially the lovely lady on the gate who kindly loaned us an umbrella). There are several gardens within one... More

Lovely garden, good tea room. Visit at autumn with your camera to capture the outstanding vibrant colours. Telephone to ask for the date set for photographers weekend which is usually half price.

A series of beautiful gardens each with their own distinctive informal character and home to many rare plants, shrubs and trees, something of a plantsmans paradise. The garden originally occupied an ancient walled enclosure which was and still is our favourite part of the garden. The original entrance was through an ancient granite arched opening in the eastern boundary wall... More

We last went to the gardens about 6 years ago but the work that has been done since this time has improved this already beautiful site. I am disabled but there were plenty of benches placed in very pretty spots so I was able to manage the whole garden with ease. The formal walled garden was a complete joy and... More

A truly beautiful corner of England. Full of history and atmosphere. Lovely gardens and a vast array of plant types. A lake and developing arboretum have been added together with lovely grounds which reward a leisurely inspection punctuated with a meal in the restaurant. Great service from the staff, a very good menu range. We had the crab sandwiches, ginger... More

Go to this garden for the walled area alone. Magnificent colour, planting and vistas. Avoid the restaurant in the house. I had stale bread and favourers expensive cheese. Good value entrance fee, poor facilities, but we went for he garden after all and that is magnificent.

Visited in August, first impressions a little flat as first plants were a little over, but from that point on enjoyed every second. Fascinating views, very different gardens around every bend. Overall, my wife and I both felt this was the best garden we have been too, and we are national trust members! If we were more local would go... More

Beautiful gardens with many different layouts, we went in August and the flowers were really good. Cafe is a bit basic but OK and clean. The toilets especially the mens could do with a substantial upgrade. Would go again.
