There are very few gardens that have the combination of planting sense, design and plant variety to make them seem at their peak for more than a few weeks of the year. This is one of the rare of ones and is a treat from Spring until well into the autumn. A must visit if you are nearby (and the... More

Second visit to this garden - as spectacular as before. So impressed that we have purchased a season ticket, even though not local. Plenty to see at different times of the year. Well worth visiting!

We visit the Garden House the last week in June most years while staying locally. We also normally manage a Spring or Autumn visit. We are regular garden visitors throughout the UK and this is one of our favourites. There is always something for everyone and you can spend many happy hours meandering through the different areas. Our favourite areas are the wild... I can thoroughly recommend this treasure of a tea room. The food is excellent and the service is better than one could wish for. In a world where everyone is always rushing around, it's so refreshing to just take time to relax and enjoy the setting of this lovely tea room. The staff are very attentive and polite, even when... Visited the gardens during an English monsoon, upon on retreating to the tea room we both received an excellent and warm welcome from the staff. After browsing the menu we both opted for an afternoon tea. To say it is value for money is a gross understatement the cakes are spectacular. We both ended up asking for bags to take... More

Although this is a nice enough little garden, there isn't enough about it to warrant the entrance price. It's situated about 1/2 a mile away from a National Trust property which has far more to offer. We had a light lunch in the tea room, which was reasonably priced, although a lot of the things on the menu, and the... More

The garden is lovely but if they want people to spend time - and money - here they need to get the cafe sorted out. We waited ages, as had other tables, to order our coffee. It took half an hour to come. We returned for lunch about 1.30 to find people sitting at empty, or uncleared tables, with no... More

Down visiting friends in Devon and decided to visit the Garden House as we had been once before, years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Gardens were beautiful, especially in this lovely weather and we're really looking forwards to coming back and seeing the arboretum as it flourishes. We had lunch in the cafe and were delighted to see (and... More

Given an average rating only because the day was a bit spoilt by the cafe. Gardens wonderful as always, peaceful, well-managed, glorious views....Oh to be in England now that summertime is here. Looking forward to a nice lunch but sadly understaffed, I guess, as we had to wait fifteen minutes to have our order taken and another hour for 3... More
