We took "steam train" from York to Carlisle. Only problem was only a small portion of the trip was done with a steam train. Toilets in our carriage also weren't working on a very hot day, that was great too. We had paid extra for First class, nice carriage but the food offering was very plan, brown bread pressed ham... Had a birthday treat from my wife on the Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday 12th July. The day went perfectly, and the food served was superb. We travelled in Premier class, and enjoyed excellent service. This is our third tour, and all have been perfect. Thank you

What a treat ! There is a choice of standard where you can take your own packed lunch. First class where in the mornings a danish pastry and fresh brewed coffee/tea awaits followed by an afternoon tea on the return. Premier class brings the finest silver service to your table with a cooked English breakfast, tea/coffee. Lunch of smoked salmon... More

Went on the East Riding tour, picking up the train at Peterborough for a lengthy 5 hour haul to Scarborough via Goole and Hull and then what should have been 4 hours back. The train, hauled by steam locomotive Oliver Cromwell arrived on time and all went according to plan up the East Coast main line to Doncaster. Our first... More

I just want to say a massive thank you to all the fab staff on the East Riding trip yesterday. They made my day one I shall not forget in a long time. The food was delicious! A great start to the day with cereals, fruit, toast and croissants followed by a full English fry up (silver served) or kippers,... More

Had an awful experience on the Christmas White Rose tour in december where the outward journey was rescheduled an hour and fifteen minute earlier because of track maintenance. The new time meant I could not make the trip as there was not a train arriving early enough at Kings Cross to make the connection. I was informed by railtrack that... More

I am going to divide this review in three sections: pre-trip, service during the trip and the train itself. The trip being reviewed was “The Swanage Belle” on 19 June, 2014. We rode the entire trip in Premier Class. Pre-Trip Being from the United States and never having ridden a British steam excursion before, I relied a lot upon the... More

We went on the Somerset day trip from Kidderminster to Minehead never been so cold in my life no heating windows were all open. Supposed to have 3 to 4 hours in Minehead actually had 1hr 20mins due to not having the right spanner at Bishops Lydeard to disconnect the engine and replace it with another. On return journey sat... I booked this trip as a gift for my hubby for Father's Day and we were not disappointed! We went Premier Class which was very comfortable and relaxing. We took our 2 boys age 8 and 15. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it! However the drinks could have been kept cooler. My husband was also very... More

We travelled on the Seaford 150 trip on Sunday 8th June from London with Seaford, Newhaven, Brighton and Eastbourne being the main stops, celebrating our first anniversary. We travelled Premier Class, enjoying breakfast and evening meal on board. In contrast to another review of the same journey on the 7th June, we had excellent service from the staff. They were...
