Booked a Steam trip the Hadrian to be pulled by a steam locomotive. The trip was to be pulled by diesel from Sheffield to Helliwell then by steam to Carlisle and on to York before being returned by dieselto Sheffield. Once we had boarded and set off we were informed the Steam train was not available. We were offered a... More

I was looking forward to a trip on Saturday 13th, The Cotswold Venturer. MAYFLOWER (which happened to be my husband birthday.) 1. The train pulling us was changed, as long as it was a steam train this really did not matter to us. 2. The time was changed from 8am to 7am (accepted) as stated in your small print that... More

Second trip cancelled by this company (out of two booked so far). The second trip was cancelled by company shortly (just over one week) before departure. When asked, customer service noted that it does happen and would not apologise when I had to phone to get my money back. I have written to complain (for the attention of the managing... More

We joined the train at 6am in the morning at Leicester to be told that due to technical problems there would be no steam engine and the trip would be diesel hauled all day. Obviously a huge disappointment since clearly that's the whole point of spending over £400 for two tickets on a steam train experience! However we were informed... More

We boarded The Hadrian at East Midlands Parkway, to be told by train staff that the steam locomotive, which had previously been "confirmed" in writing, was in fact out of service. On being served stale "pastries" with our coffee we were then told that the train had been broken into overnight and the catering supplies stolen. Not a good start... More

We travelled 1st class in a vintage carriage. However, the planned steam engine, Union of South Africa, was out of service and so we were hauled all the way there and back by a diesel engine which itself was built in the early 1960's and was in dark red livery colour which matched the colour of the carriages, so it... This was a birthday present for my friend and I, 8 of us travelled on the Cumbian Express on Sunday June 6th. We had standard class and took our own picnic. The staff were all lovely and friendly. Carlisle station had engineering work going on, so we stopped at Appleby instead. The horse fair was on and it was an... More

Went on the Cumbrian Coast Express with this crowd on Saturday, first time we have used this Company and it will be the last. The catering and catering staff were excellent, excellent service of good food. However, the rest of it was very disappointing for the following reasons: This was steam hauled to and from Carnforth but most people never... More

Myself and a friend travelled Premier Dining class. Upon boarding bucks fizz is served. This is followed by a choice of variious choices of cereal, porridge or grapefruit. This was followed by either full english breakfast (our choice) or smoked kipper. The sound, feel and smell of a steam locomotive working hard (they plan steep climbs) is wonderful. A couple...
