8 of us travelled Premier Class on this trip on Saturday 6th February and thought it was superb! To our surprise and delight our loco was the famous Flying Scotsman (not advertised when we booked the tour). The whole day was perfect from beginning to end - the food, the service, the staff and volunteers who kept us informed about... More

We took the Winter Express Premier package on the 6th February 2016 and had the delight of being hauled by the Flying Scotsman. It's a long old trip from Euston to Carlisle and back but we enjoyed every moment. The decor was delightful. The Chefs, I was told there were just two, are amazing. The in carriage staff couldn't be... More

I booked the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express as a Christmas present for my husband. First of all I believed I had booked The a Flying Scotsman. Turned out to be another locomotive although that didn't spoil the day. The good highlights of the day were the Premier class dining room - so glad I traded up to this. Seats comfortable... More

We had booked a very special day riding the Cumbrian Express from Bolton to Carlisle via the Settle viaduct. Our interest was not in riding behind a steam train but in particular the unique and famous Flying Scotsman on what was to be her inaugural mainline journey following restoration. Things started to go wrong when the tour company, having failed... More

My wife booked this as a surprise present for my 60th birthday, since the trip coincided with the actual date of my birthday. I love steam engines and even as we walked down the platforms of Victoria Station I was completely unaware of what my wife had planned, so you can imagine the disappointment on her face when she saw... My Husband booked this as a special Surprise for my birthday. The trip was from London Paddington to Minehead. The first disappointment was that no Steam Engine arrived at Paddington my husband was crestfallen as he thought this would be a romantic treat. We were seated in the first class section just up from the kitchen. Whilst I except that... More

On 19th December, my sister and I travelled from Kettering to York on the Yuletide Express. This was our third trip with the Railway Touring Company in two years; our previous one being the same journey to York in December 2014. To date we have always been really impressed with their organisation and service, so much so that we had... More

We went on the Yule time express to York. We had to wait for this trip as due to problems with the engine it was cancelled twice. But these are old engines so a bit disappointed but couldn't be helped. BUT when we went it was the best day out. We went first class the seats were comfortable we had... More

On Saturday 4 of us went on the Yuletide express to York. I'd bought these tickets as a Christmas present for my family and we've been looking forward to it for a long time. When booking online then transferred to over the phone booking no one and no where on the website describes the difference between the style of the... More

I bought this as a surprise Christmas present for my girl friend. I went all out on this and bought tickets for the highest class cabin ie the Premier cabin and paid extra to have a table for just my partner and me. I paid over £400 and the day was a complete disaster. Like a lot of previous reviews... More
