Well worth a visit. I am certain that visitors will not have seen anything like this before. Fantastic art works from Niki and the weirdest contraptions which look as if they are kept together by pieces of old string but amazingly work put together by Jean.

Two great artists, with very different languages of expression communicating one idea. Niki de Saint Phalle's works are big, colorful, robust; while Jean Tinguely are thin, rusted, animated. The museum is a fun and magical place where we, the viewer, become part of their mysterious world of machines, poetry, watercolors, and sculptures. This museum is great for children too. A... More

I just didn't get it. A lot of 'stuff' e.g. bike wheels, chairs, chains, toys, etc all made into a machine that shudders, rumbles, whirs and clicks. Sorry it just went over my head....

Boy, did this museum have strange pieces of art. Not many of these odd constructions, but the ones there are, are just strange strange strange. Even children might like this place, as the scultures are animatronic!

If you like the art of Jean Tinguely and/or Niki de Saint Phalle, you should visit this little museum. But make sure to see their works in the town, too!

An eccentric collection of wonderful machines. Our French was not up to translating all the labels, but we had great fun watching all the exhibits and working out which bits moved what! If you have mechanically minded youngsters, I cannot imagine what you would have to bribe them to leave!

Just awesome! So much imagination and great fun for all ages. Tinguelly's mechanican sculptures are fascinating and a delight to watch. Each one is individual and one can spent hours watching them move. Niki de Saint Phalle's work is also fascinating as well as thought-provoking. Highly recommended. We loved it!

what a surprise....!! it was wonderful and unique...definitively worth a visit to Fribourg. There is a drawing that Niki de Sain Phalle did in 2001 sondemning the use of guns in the USA and the dangers to young people..it should be sent as a gift to President Obama!

We visited with 2 young kids (7 and 9). Kids were impressed ! There are a lot of "machines" you can put on with a red button. The visit is done in less than 30 minutes. The museum is located in the center of Fribourg and near the old town and the "Cathedral". Price is ok.

Staff friendly, helpful. This is a small museum but extremely well layer out and interactive as you can turn much of this art on yourself with a push of a button. Some pieces are best viewed fom different angles and the space and layout makes this easy. Children will enjoy this visit!
