A lovely sheltered beach directly East of the Balcon de Europa. The approach to the beach is unsuitable for people with walking difficulties due to the steep incline & steps. The beach itself is clean & is made up of coarse sand & shingle the sunbeds for hire are set back so do not spoil the vista. The only eyesore... More

What have I missed - but will now return. Quiet, near the balcon with easy incline just off a side street next to the church. Sheltered and cultural - just how it should be.

Papagayo beach was very hot although it was a bit cold on the other windy beaches of Nerja. Location next to Balcon de Europa is excellent. We went there two times. Once during the day, when people where sunbathing. It was not overcrowded. Water was cold and refreshing. The second time, we went there around 11pm and it was very... More

This is quite a long beach, but very dark sand, almost volcanic looking. We didn't think it was the best beach in the area, we did manage to walk to the end of the beach where there are a number of hotels that seem to rent out sunbeds, there were no beds on the beach but this might be due... More

Went beginning of April. Very disappointed as el papagayo cafe on beach seems to be closed up permanently. Used it two weeks ago as is a fab beach to sit, relax or take a splash

I visted Nerja on an occasion, and went to the Balcon de Europa, whilst standing there, I saw this beach and thought that it had to be the clearest water I have seen, I was staying down in Torremolinos and the sea was black there, funny only a few miles up, here it is crystal blue!!

Yes there is a family of wild, or semi wild cats, living in the undergrowth around this beach. Mainly ginger, they are clearly being fed by tourists, as they are in good condition, and we love to stand on the Balcon and try to spot them. They seem oblivious to the people, The beach itself is sheltered by the cliffs,... More

Small central and very pretty, boats usually are birthed there. The sand is a little finer than in Buriana. Being right beside the Balcon and only around the corner from Playa Salon provides for nice safe walks while leaving your stuff on the beach. Before going on to the beach through the little archway at the top, you can stock... More

This beach just east of the balcon de europa is one of many lovely gravel beaches backed by large cliffs. Even in january I was able to swim for half an hour in de water (15c).

Probably the most scenic beach in town, with the fishing boats on the shore. Despite its central location it was almost like having a private beach. You can walk or swim around to the two neighboring beaches.
