The Alcazaba is on the highest point of the town and there are very good views of the town and the surrounding countryside. The Homage Tower is the best place to do this because it is the highest point of the Alcazaba. The gardens of the Alcazaba are still being worked on but there is a path between Italian cypress... You can drive up to save the short but steep climb to the Alcazaba. We would call it a castle in England and it on a par with Warwick for access to walls and towers. The cost was 6 euros which included the Church and a audio handheld guide in English, French or German. Brings the local history to life... More

I usually avoid the recorded commentaries on attractions, but so glad I used it. Learned a lot from it, and it helped to make the experience more vital. There's a lot of climbing involved, so not suitable for people with mobility problems. The ruin itself is beautiful and peaceful, and the views of the surrounding countryside are breathtaking.

Steep walk up to castle but worth it. We used the audio guide which painted a good picture of the life at the time of the siege. Beaufiful views of town and surrounding country side.

The Alcazaba of Antequera is a fortress erected in the 14th century. Perched up a hill overlooking the town, the panoramic views over the surrounding countryside are wonderful, including an excellent view of the Peñon de los Enamorados (Lover's Rock).. The entrance fee of 6 euros for the Alcazaba + Real Colegiata de Santa Maria is a bargain. The audio... More

My family and I recently visited here and were surprised by the impressiveness of the Alcazaba, especially for the price. It comes with an audio guide and you can climb to the top of the towers for impressive views. It was fun for all in my family, kids aged 14, 12, and 18 months, although it was dangerous to let... It is worth the walk up hill from the town to see Alcazaba and the Colegiate de Santa Maria. The entrance ticket of 6euros includes an excellent audio guide which brings to life the history. The staff are every helpful and for once in Antequera they could speak English.

6euros entry which includes audio tour which was of a very good quality with good mix of history and architecture. Includes entry to Colegiata de Santa Maria la Mayor. There are roman remains to see as well and views out over the town are lovely. Great views of the Lovers' rock, which looks like a face, make sure you don't... More

A walk up the hill to the Alcazaba is well worth the effort. The views are divine, affording amazing uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. The audio guide taking you around the fortress is also excellent and endeavours to take you back in time. On the day we visited there were little or no visitors, providing us plenty of time... More

Well worth the walk uphill!! At €6, entry includes a very good audio guide and entry to the Colegiata de Santa Maria la Mayor. Views from the Alcazaba are spectacular.
