I have just returned from a train trip around Spain. It would certainly not have been possible to have such an enjoyable trip were it not for the professionalism of Renfe - I would like to congratulate the company on its excellent service - professional staff, on-time trains, clean trains, food and beverage services available (buffet car, trolley or vending... Poor signage for parking at the main station in malaga but eventually found the underground parking and once parked we were in the station in minutes. All luggage was put through X-ray but I do not think passengers were. What is the point. Anyway our reserved seats were waiting and it was a comfortable two hour ride to Seville in... More

We took the train to Ronda. Booked our tickets on-line from the UK but could have just as easily bought them at the station. We took the media distance train out and it was punctual, comfortable and with clear announcements. We caught the Altaria train back (a bit like an intercity) which again was punctual and comfy but with less... More

I purchased RENFE Spain Rail Passes for my wife, adult daughter and myself on line. I found the purchase to be relatively straight forward. Reserving seats was a little more difficult but I managed to get through it not too much effort. Be certain to reserve your seats in the order in which you will be traveling. Example, if you... More

We arrived in Algeciras by train from Cordoba. The last 90 minutes from Ronda to Algeciras takes you through some wonderfully scenic country. The train doesn't go very fast (averages about 40mph). Apparently RENFE want to close this line. The train was about 30% full.

The Algeciras to Ronda train journey is a trip through some of the most beautiful countryside in Andalucía. The little three-carriage train winds its way past some of the attractive 'white towns' of the region and through the spectacular scenery of the Los Alcornocales and Grazalema Natural Parks. British engineers built the line when Victoria was on the throne -... More

We bought a Eurorail pass and travelled through Spain and France for 15days of travel in a month. This worked really well if we were able to book far enough ahead. The earlier you book the more choice you have. There are usually three levels of travel - Preferente, Turista Plus and Turista. We did a mixture of TGV and... More

Best train journey ever. And I work on trains for a living! €43 for a 1st class single from Madrid to Alicante. Booked on the RENFE website with no problems. Tickets availableto print at home or collect from vending machine at station. Luggage is scanned at departure station so allow a bit of extra time. The journey was amazing. 300km/hr... More

We rode the high speed train from Algeciras to Barcelona with a change about an hour outside of Algeciras. I appreciated the clean comfortable surroundings. There is no real competition here aside from airplanes so I guess my comment is that I enjoyed the ride between the two cities. I should note that if I were on a quick trip,... More
