For an awareness of an Irish coalmine and what constitutes hard work you have to go here. Not only do you experience the c a coal mine but the methods used and the work culture experienced. The more tonnage and yardage of coal and in the mine you achieved the more money received. Fierce competition alongside the aches and pains.Very educational... More

The Arigna Mining Experience – what a gem of a place to visit. From the moment you approach the carpark you are completely spoiled firstly by the spectacular views of the surrounding counties and then by the nature & content of the tour itself. The staff who conducted the tour were incredibly friendly and on the day of our visit... More

View Spectacular.. visit - food for thought.. what miners had to face to extract coal... It is hard work and definitely life threatening.. I think it is to educate ourselves and our younger ones of history and life at Arigna.. PS : the soup at the cafeteria was wonderful also.. :)

Really interesting, our guide was Michael and he did a great job. View is beautiful from there, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Arigna is tucked away in a remote part of the county, but the mining experience is well worth a visit. The tour and overall experience is very cleverly done and very interesting. Something unique in the country

The person who did the tour actually worked there since he was 16.. So the entire tour was very emotional and real for him. He would sometimes suddenly pause in the middle of describing a procedure, close his eyes, reminisce and return to us. I thought it would be more interesting if, for the entire trip all they did was... More

Our hotel offered free admission vouchers to area attractions and we picked this. First off the drive there has stunning views of the valley and mountains beyond. We were about 5 minutes late for the tour but one of the miner/guides was nice enough to take us in to catch up so we didn't have to wait an hour for... More

Best tour I've ever went on Maurice was our tour guide an obsolute gentleman. It was strange I felt very emotional as soon I went down the mine. They had such a hard time and felt honoured to have one off the actual miners too take us on the tour. Would highly recommend this place.
