Welcome to our TripAdvisor page. I am Oliver Walsh and for the past 15 years I have welcomed visitors from all over the world to Flowerhill Equestrian Centre in Co Galway, Ireland. Visitors come for the hospitality, willing and fit horses, extensive cross country horseback riding facilities and relaxed and happy atmosphere. Flowerhill is based in 250 acres of beautiful east Galway country side. We are surrounded by the best possible cross country horse riding land - green fields, woods, the Kilcrow river, and wonderful wildlife. You can gallop across open fields, swim through the lake and splash in the Kilcrow river, scaring away the fish as you go. Our fences are a mixture of natural logs, stone walls, ditches and a variety of man made obstacles, including giant bananas! Most of the 150 fences include 2 or more options, so whether you are a nervous novice or confident competitor, we will cater for your needs. The riding standard varies from novice cross sountry, through intermediate, right up to advanced open. All riders need to be confident at walk trot and canter, therefore Flowerhil is not for the absolute beginner.Ride with us by the hour, a full day of 2 or 3 rides per day, or stay with us and chill out for a week or more. Rides usually go out daily at 10.00am and 1.30pm, and we change the rides to suit our customers needs. Horse riding variations include show jumping and dressage tuition, cross country workshops, exercising the hounds and hacking down to the local pub, where there are stabling facilities while we enjoy a pint and toasted sandwich. Private cross country or show jumping clinics for an individual rider can also be arranged. Over the years many of customers return again and again to enjoy the fun.

I'm just back from a weekend in Flowerhill with a few friends and it was amazing. We did 3 cross country rides and a mini hunt across Sat & Sun. Oliver (the owner) is an absolute legend and runs a great yard. The horses are excellent and the cross country facilities are top class. We stayed in the main house... More

Our group keeps coming back to Flowerhill. We´ve been to lots of places around the globe to ride but this place is truly unique. Every single horse we have ridden here is superb, perfectly suited to the abilities and temperament (or nervousness) of each rider. At Flowerhill I always learn more about jumping in a few days than I do... More

We rode here for 5 days and had so much fun! We're 14 and 17 and having been riding for around 7 years (but we had not had much cross country schooling prior). Everyday we would start with a cross country ride, then switch horses for a hack (no jumping), then after lunch ride yet another horse for a second... More

Daughters ages 13 and 11 years and my wife were in equestrian heaven here. Nothing fancy, just good horses, a hundred crosscountry jumps and a comfy bed. Self catering in a small kitchen or head down the road to Portumna for a meal. Cool riders den where an international group of girls got to hang out every night and talk... More

Had a fab Birthday weekend here with a couple friends. Oliver and his lovely team are so welcoming and friendly; and the horses are beautiful and an absolute joy to ride. The house and surrounding countryside are stunning, and we can't wait to go back. Thanks all :-)

Went for a weekend to restore a bit of confidence and to put up a bit of mileage and got both in spades. Fantastic place for horse people.. I am not sure how Oliver does it but he really has a knack for matching horses to riders. The xc is really well maintained, he has clearly invested a lot of... More

Flowerhill the place to go for anyone interested in a horsey experience. You will not be disappointed in anything! Oliver is an excellent host, he has around 60 horses, so there is one for every taste. The horses are really friendly, and will jump anything you steer against. We stayed at Flowerhill which is an old charming farmhouse and cooked... More

I had such a brilliant time at Flowerhill! Oliver who owns the centre is great and chooses horses which suit your ability perfectly. Having never done cross country before I was really glad of all the tips he gave for each jump, encouragement and advice on how to improve. There's a huge range of jumps and all of the horses...
