I took so many photos here and they were all amazing with the color on the trees. People thought I took a photo of a painting. It's really beautiful. I recommend comfy shoes or hiking boots to go for a really nice walk and explore the area. More

No visit to Iceland would be complete without a visit to this site, known as Iceland's national shrine. Situated less than an hours drive from Reykjavik, and a natural rift valley, this is the site of the world's oldest Parliament, which was inaugerated in the year 974 AD. The first time I viisted this site in 1984, was with a... More

Thingvellir doesn't sound very exciting, but we found the setting to be stunning. More

I have been to Thingvellir several times, it is not only beautiful in its natural aspect, but inspiring to think of the people that gathered here and worked out the laws and problems of their country until fairly recently in history. I have a deep respect for Iceland and ihe people that live here, they retain an independence of spirit... More

My friend and I decided to camp at Thingvellir before continuing on the Golden Circle route in late August. We had a quick dinner at the visitors' center, and then went to set up camp. It was chilly that night, so I woke up very early and watched one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen. The pink... More

Disappointing and with coach loads of tourists even off season. All the pictures I had seen before were taken from the air looked amazing. Not quite the same when walking though the cliffs. More

Please if you get a chance to go snorkel in Pingvellir National park. You enter into crystal clear water and snorkel between the American and Eurpoean tectonic plates. The water is so clear, its very cold, but you can see all the way to the bottom. You get provided with dry suits, but you still feel slightly chilly, but the... More

Þingvellir is amazing to visit any time of the year, it's just exceptionally cold [four degrees celsius] in October. Once you arrive at Þingvellir, you tend to just relax cause of the views. By October, the grass had turned a musky orange, and the dark basalt and granite of the mountains and cliffs around you seem to invite you in.... More

I have visited this place on two occasions now. Once in 2010 and again July 2011 In 2011 it was in conjuction with my journey around Icelands Ring Road, travelling with a private guide. Having a private guide was wonderful, particularly in a place such as this. I was able to see this with an Icelander and his knowledge was... More
