I recently had the absolute pleasure of doing a Beach Ride tour with Solhestar horse rentals. It was a fantastic experience and I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful staff and horses. Although i was the only person on the tour, they did not cancel and I had a fantastic ride with Hanna as my guide. Although I've... More

Easily the best outing we did in our 5-day stopover in Iceland. We had a two-hour ride in the beautiful landscape surrounding this family-run farm. The horses are extraordinary, with their unique gait, and experienced staff pair riders well with horses to suit the individual. Helmets, boots and raingear supplied plus complimentary coffee and biscuits. We combined this outing with... More

I'm an OK rider (I can canter, but I don't get a lot of practise and I've not had many lessons), and was a little nervous of my first long ride (never done more than about 3 hours). It was brilliant - the guide was really helpful, advising us about how to stand in the stirups on the way up... More

I have been riding for 25 years and this is one of the best rides I have every been on. Wonderful staff matched me perfectly with my horse. Although the information says min of 4 people. I was on my own. This made it better for me due to my experience. Thank you to Kim my guide and all the... More

We rode with Solhestar 2 times; both times 3h. My boyfriend is a beginner; he just sat a few times on my horse and I have been riding for over 20 years. We were both satisfied with our horses; he got a very cute & calm horse and mine was very lively (but controllable). I was amazed by the fine... More

We were on a guided tour (22nd May) around the valley floor and actually got longer then we were meant to. It was just us tow and one other so really small group well supervised! Although we were experienced on other horses I don't think I quite got the hang of the 'tolt' but it was great to try. Really... More

The horses looked well cared for, the tack was in good shape, and the optional raincoats, jumpsuits, helmets, gloves, and boots were in decent shape (and vital to enjoying the ride!). The turn off is well marked and easy to find. The horses were very calm, as you'd expect, but trained well enough to listen to your legs and hands.... More

I have gone on icelandic horse rides with other companies and Solhestar was by far the best. The groups are small and more intimate. Our guide was excellent and took excellent care of the four people in our group, who ranged in experience from the first time on a horse to an experienced rider. We rode for two hours through... My friend and I are complete beginners but were made to feel totally at ease on the horse. The horses were well behaved and we were able to go at a pace we felt comfortable. The staff were so friendly and encouraging. We went out for an hour and were offered coffee and biscuits when we got back. If we... More

My wife & I are complete beginners on horseback but had a lovely time just sitting on the horse (only just in my case, I'm not a natural) as we strolled along the paths & fields admiring the rugged landscape. The guide was perfect & she tried to get us to go faster when we felt ready to but we... More
