I am a first time horse rider and found the level of the 2 hour session to be just right. By the end I was galloping on the horse through the snow. The staff were excellent at making you feel welcome and setting you up for a ride through the lava fields. Pick up and drop off are available as... More

What an amazing experience, I enjoyed every second of it! I recently visited with three friends and I am so glad we did as it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip! We booked this trip at a local tourism shop in Reykjavik at a reasonable price (around £60 which is cheap in comparison). On the day of... More

Really fantastic experience and a wonderful introduction to Iceland. We were matched with horses perfect for our abilities, and really fun to ride, and taken on a super ride, watching the sunrise over the hills. Super jumpsuits provided to keep us warm. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and friendly. Highly recommended!

The Solhestar farm is a great experience. The horses are energetic and good with non riders. When we rode the tolt ,the horses tried to give us a bumpy type of tolt. With persistence we found out how smooth and enjoyable this gait is. Our guides were Kim and Linnea from Sweden. Very capable ladies. When riding you have a... More

Thoroughly enjoyed this introduction to Icelandic horses. Solhester offered rides on New Year's Day and offered pick up from Reykjavik (very convenient).

We ended up with a free day at the end of our holiday and decided to go horse riding. Our daughter is 8 and was given an amazing horse to ride, she went from being led in the beginning of the ride to trotting on her own at the end of the hour! Our guide was amazing and the horses... More

My first impression was very positive: They did not only provide outdoor clothing but a warm coverall! We were a group of about 8. They gave us a horse and then we were able to try it out for a few minutes. They we took off. It was a nice experience, the horses were calm and kind. The nature was... More

We had a bit of a mistake with a tour on the 26th and found ourselves at a loose end, ,but we were keen just to see some Icelandic horses, and stay outdoors even though the weather in Reykjavik was horrid. The owner came and fetched us at quite short notice, and provided lovely horses for absolute beginners(my other half has never... The customer service was on point. Very friendly people who are passionate about the animals they care for. I had only ridden three times prior to the excursion, and the tour guide was more than willing to offer personal help/attention when needed. We were out for a good 2 hours. By the end of it, we felt it was well... More
