I wanted a smaller, more adventurous tour and I couldn't have asked for more. For a start there was only me and my brilliant guide on the tour, which is really unusual because most places would have cancelled if there was no more interest. The tour itself is was a brilliant ride up the steam valley on a fantastic pony... More

I had an amazing day at Sólhestar. I booked the beach tour and we were only a small group of 3 people plus guide. The lonely black beach and the rest of the nature were just stunning! The horses were fun, they have a lot of power but you are always able to control the speed. Also the guides as... More

My husband and I booked the hot springs tour through our hotel (ION Luxury Adventure Hotel). We are both experienced riders and wanted a more advanced and personal ride and they definitely accommodated. The tour started with a sure footed walk up the steeper Reykjadalur path to the hot river. Once there we had a light lunch (prepared by the... More

I took part in the hot spring tour at Sólhestar in the beginning of August. I booked it 2 days in advance and asked also via mail for an "experienced ride". They told me they couldn't promise something (always have to look which people would come with me, but would give me a good horse) which made me first a... More

It's a family-run horse farm and it certainly doesn't feel like you're processed in the tourist machinery. I did the 'hot spring tour'. What's included? Pick-up and drop-off from your accommodation around Rekjavík, lunch-snack during the trip, soup when you return to the stabels, and any outdoor gear you could possibly need (like boots, helmets, gloves, beanies, scarves, rain coat).... We were recommended Solhestar by a local tourist information office. It is located next to Eldhestar's farm but it is smaller and we were told that it was basically the same offer of tours but more personal and posibly smaller groups. We later spoke to other people who also recommended taking one of the smaller local companies, for example Solhestar.... More

Me and my mother had an amazing tour at Solhestar. We are both experienced riders and we got loveley horses with good gaits and tempo. The road was a bit boring but it did not matter because our guide Melina was so kind and interesting to speak with! I liked Solhestar because they are much more personal then the bigger... More

What a day I had, still trying to take it all in. I had a really great 2hr ride with Solhestar. My horse name was Lukka (in English Lucky) and she was extremely nice. After a couple of minutes of introductory ride, when we got used to each other, she was awesome in responding to all my commands. The pickup... More

I travel on my own with my two boys (4/6) and I was thinking that it would not Work riding horses with them. But they had an experience of a life time and we enjoyed indeed the trip. The people at Solhestar are the most friendly, easygoing and professionel - and will do anything to make Things Work for you.... More
