The temperature of the steam varies depending on the temperature of the hot spring and weather, usually between 40°C (104°F) and 50°C (122°F). Humidity is very high in the steam room cabins. Grids in the floor of the steam rooms allow guests to hear and smell the boiling natural hot spring underneath, creating a natural and totally unique experience.Next to the steam room is YLUR, a Finnish-style sauna. The temperature is between 80°C (176°F) and 90°C (194°F), with a lower humidity than the steam room having a big window facing the lake of Laugarvatn. LAUGA, SÆLA, and VISKA are interconnected outdoor mineral baths that vary in depth, size and temperature. Some areas are suitable for relaxation and others offer space for movement and playfull moments. Stone artwork made by Icelandic artist, Erla Thórarinsdóttir, enhance each visitor’s experience. VISKA, the hot tub, is built at a slightly higher level than the other baths, providing a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings while the healthy water nourishes both body and soul.Completing the ensemble are VATNIÐ and STRÖNDIN — the lake and the beach. Visitors will reach VATNIÐ through a gate. STRÖNDIN has warm black sand, which has been shown to be beneficial for those suffering from arthritis and other joint illnesses. VATNIÐ provides an opportunity to cool down between visits to GUFAN and YLUR, a temperature shift that is both healthy and strengthening « less

A modern spa / pool on the edge of a lake with different pools of hot water, one directly fed by water coming from hot sources. The steam rooms are built on top of small geysirs so you can constantly hear the noise from the ground below you while the smoke (and smells) are rising into the room - quite... More

A natural style pool plus two other bathing pools and a large hot tub, all at varying temperatures. There is also lakeside access to have a cold plunge if you want to, together with rubber shoes provided. They have four steam rooms, the one we used was over the bubbling cauldron of hot water - you could hear and feel... More

On our Golden Circle day we stopped here to take a look and enjoyed a light lunch in the cafeteria. We did not make use of the spa, but from the cafeteria you can see the people enjoying the lovely hot pools right in front of you with the view of the lake in the background. My wife and I... More

We chose to visit Laugarvatn Fontana on our Circle Tour and did this instead of the Blue Lagoon. We were so glad we did. Sampling the freshly baked bread (hot from the sand), soaking in the natural pool and enjoying the natural steam rooms .. two hours passed by so fast. We are looking forward to returning on a more... Top notch pool, very clean without the crowds...at least when we were there. I will definitely miss this one when we go back home! Stopped here for a mid point break in our golden circle tour. Our kids loved all the different pools, I loved the real hot steam room...close to 60 degrees...felt like a million bucks when we were... More

Fontana is a gem around the golden circle. Here you most stop if you want to have a nice and great relaxing time while you are making the golden circle tour. Fontana have 3 natural steam rooms and one dry sauna. Under Fontana is a natural hot spring so they get all the natural heat from there. The pools are... More

The visit was part of a Golden Circle tour, allowing us a mere 2 hours in the spa. You get a taste of the delicacies, but leave wishing you had had several more hours at your disposal! The set-up was very clean and tidy, well maintained. Showers provide shampoo and conditioner, and there is complimentary body lotion in the changing... More

We found the Fontana website whilst looking for things to do in the area. We went on a lovely clear midweek day. The staff were friendly and helpful. The children (3, 8 and 10) loved the pools of all different depths and temperatures. The spa had plenty of armbands available if little ones wanted them. We only had to pay... More

Spa in natural surroundings by the lake with hot springs. Comes with bath of different temperature. Sauna and natural steam cabins. Not as crowded as bleu lagoon. Make sure to swim the lake as it comes with hot springs. Excellent cafeteria, nice offer of little dishes and drinks Definitely worth visiting.

These natural pools are located right on the lake, with a beautiful view. Next to the baths is a pathway along the lake where you can see some of the bubbling geothermal areas. The lake is quite peaceful, and less traveled despite its proximity to Geysir and Gullfoss. Enjoy a relaxing soak with a beautiful view.
