we went in october. The entire view was dominated by white snow, we were the only people there the silence and feeling of isolation was amazing. Totalylly amazing experience. More

Active volcanic area with Viti explosion crater and Power plant (closed off season). The walk is stunning with the view of the lava stream, walking around mud pools and amongst the steam vents. The drive in passes a toliet and working shower (plumbed intto the ground!) makes for a funny photo! More

Krafla Lava Fields (free) are not far from Myvatin Lake area. - heading east on the 1, take a left onto the 863. The walk here is really worth it,make sure you walk all the way round both loops as they are very different. Took us about 2 hours.
