The day we went to see the waterfall, Hollywood was filming on the site and the entire surrounding was sealed off for tourists. However, we did get the chance to visit the dettifoss the next day. It was simply amazing. More

There was quite a lot of snow which made for a tricky drive out to the falls but it was well worth it. An easy trek to the falls prob about 20 mins. Just us and a group of others from our Hotel on a Jeep tour which was nice as we had it to ourselves! More

There is now a paved road to dettifoss starting off Rte 1 near Myvatn. few people there and relatively easy to walk to. but the drive to Asbyrgi is still a dirt unimproved road but not impossible if you drive carefully More
