We hiked a section of Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, one of Germany's top trails. Challenging most of the time and breathtaking all the time. This is not a trail for tennis shoes. We left from the opposite side of Mettlach, crossed the bridge, and were quickly ascending. We also did the descent from Saarscleife. Great single tracking.

I have been visiting this area since 2006, and on every trip I make a visit to the Saarschleife. A beautiful view over the countryside and across to Burg Montclair ( if you look very closely). If you're feeling up to it, there are hiking trails all the may down from the top to river level. A great view of... More

It's like something out of a fairy tale. My friend, who took me there told me, whenever she's upset, she imagines herself there, and no wonder. I had the opportunity to enjoy the view for about 10 minutes before we had to leave, but I could easily spend there a whole day meditating and letting my problems fall away. If... More

Having seen the magnificent horseshoe bend of the Colorado river, near the Grand Canyon I did not think I would see another bend like that. Wrong! This bend on the River Saar is just as good and breathtaking. The walk through the woods from the car park is very pleasant and not too long. Disabled access is possible without too... More

I believe one of the great views in Europe! Easy to access from Parkings nearby, great walking in the surroundings till you arrive at the promontory to this landscape! Very good to Sports, running and cycling, and leisure for family with Kids.

The Saarschleife is a unique natural phenomenon, spectacular and unusual. Saar River is winding, creating a bend of 180 degrees between wooded green hills. You should reach the observation point on Cloef in a nice day, even you have to walk a distance of about a kilometer from the parking lot, to enjoy the spectacular scenery, to breathe the clear... You have a wonderful view from the "cleouf" viewing Point. From Mettlach the viewing Point is only 7km away. From the viewing Point is`s also only 35km to the City Luxembourg.

Stand up the hill and look down onto this lazy meander and think where it came from and where it is going . . .

It is a beautiful view of the horseshue turn of the Saar river. Full of tourists. 10 minutes is sufficient.
