While little of the original concentration camp remains, the visitor can walk through the history of the camp with the use of visual displays, video and recreated barracks. In the present day, it may be difficult for younger people to know such events took place; that is the reason this place should exist. And there is no admission charge; handouts... More

This is not an easy visit but it's very informative and a must-see for anyone interested in this period. Set aside a day for this. It's not one that can be breezed through quickly because it takes a fair amount of time to see everything and (perhaps more importantly) it can be emotionally draining. Since this is Dachau, the nature... More

There was a lot of reading and video-watching. The barracks are not original and are all re-built and I didn't venture to the crematorium as it was raining very hard and cold. We did not do the tour but just walked ourselves through the exhibits. There were hoards of other tourists there as well. I am glad I went and... More

To anybody of Jewish descent, visiting a former concentration camp is a sobering experience. I did feel somewhat drained after visiting Dachau but the memorial exhibit is well-organized. Germany hasn't done a perfect job of acknowledging its responsibility for the Nazi atrocities of WWII, but Germany *has* done a pretty good job of acknowledging its responsibility. Many of the exhibit... More

A visit to Dachau concentration camp is a must if you're staying in Munich. It's really easy to get here via train and bus. I went with Gordon and his tour starts from the central station in Munich. His tour was fantastic and he did a really great overview of the history of the memorial site and furthermore he gives... More

Dachau is not as sobering as the Auschwitz or Birkenau camps, mainly because not much of the actual camp still exists. There are two reconstructed barracks furnished as they were originally & a few actual pictures of Dachau are on display. All you see of the other barracks are the foundations. The original crematorium is a must see at the... More

The place was easy enough to get to taking the s2 and then the bus took you just down from the front gates. The customer service at the information centre was brilliant and the food was what you would expect from an average cafeteria. All of this outside the gates. The exhabition was eye opening though there was a mass... More

A trip to the concentration camp site is a "must see". The sign at the entrance says something like "history must never repeat itself". We took the S Bahn #2 to Dachau and then the bus to the site. Two to five people can ride the train or tram on a family ticket for 24 hours. We arrived about 9:45... More

It is morbid, but this period in time has always fascinated me in how a whole country could be so led by a few, to do such horrific acts and be able to continue to do them for as long as they did. We arrived in Munich early from the USA and headed straight to the train station. You can... More

The museum was VERY informative and had a ton of information on its history and past prisoners, there was so much to read I could have stayed there overnight! You can actually walk in the barracks and right up close to the ovens and marked grave sites. If I had to pick one museum to visit twice during my lifetime,... More
