In 1875, Colonel Samuel West Peel built a marvelous villa tower Italiante mansion on the outskirts of Bentonville, Arkansas. It was a working farmstead surrounded by 180 acres of apple trees. The Peel Mansion is an outdoor museum of heritage roses, perennials, and native plants. Various vignette gardens are interlaced among curvilinear walks and large shade trees creating a most appropriate setting for this great historic building of Northwest Arkansas.

Also on the site is the pre-Civil War Andy Lynch log cabin which serves as a gatehouse and Museum Store at the entrance to the grounds.

*Tours are available every hour on the hour.*

The Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens offers a variety of event options - wedding ceremony and reception, rehearsal dinners, group luncheons and tours, as well as civic or corporate events. We have the perfect venue for your special event!

We went to the Peel Museum's Christmas open house. The house was decorated beautifully in period appropriate decor. We learned a little about the house and the family. But it definitely made us want to go back for a tour. This would provide more info to learn the history and ask questions. Looking forward to going back in the spring.

This house does sit on a Walmart parking lot but that is a good thing because it could be gone all together. The piece of property it sits on also has a small garden and a relocated log cabin that sells tickets and local products. As a historic house this one has little interest as it is in bad condition,... More

After seeing the house where the family lived and then the room/kitchen where the cook and her family lived, we came away with a poor opinion of Col. Peel

We decided to try this place, because of decent tripadvisor ratings and some extra time today. Turned out to be quite nice! The mansion (built in 1875) literally abuts the Wal-Mart parking lot. Walking the grounds is free, and you can see some nice gardens. The gift shop, where you get tickets for tours is actually in a 1840's-built cabin,... More

The friendly staff will overwhelm you. We stumbled upon this looking for a picnic table. We had first class picnic grounds in the garden of the Peel. The grounds are well done and the restroom s were good. A great stop.

Beautifully preserved Victorian era home surrounded by a Wal- Mart Supercenter parking lot. Beautiful flowers, gardens and trees surround this older mansion that has been restored to it's former glory days. Furnishings were period correct, also. Attention to little details were evident in every room. The gift shop was manned by the friendliest person we met on our trip. Erin... More

While the home is indeed a good example of the Italianate Villa style, the tour was a tad flat in all fairness. With a relatively small entry fee of $5 for adults ($2 for kids), this isn't a terribly expensive diversion for an hour or so if you happen to be in the Bentonville area and looking for something to... Houses like the Peel Mansion tell the story of families and their hardships as this country was becoming what we are. This is a post Civil War mansion, nicely preserved, and worth the time spent touring the home. The gardens are a must to walk through.

This house can be visited in approximately 45 minutes by guided tour. The tour guide knew detailed info about most items in each room and quite a bit about the residents of the house, whether they were the original Peel family or the subsequent owners. The Lady running the shop is very proud of her space. She had great recommendations... More
