It was a working farmstead surrounded by 180 acres of apple trees. The Peel Mansion is an outdoor museum of heritage roses, perennials, and native plants. Various vignette gardens are interlaced among curvilinear walks and large shade trees creating a most appropriate setting for this great historic building of northwest Arkansas. Also on the site is the pre-Civil War Andy Lynch log cabin which serves as a gatehouse and gift shop at the entrance to the grounds. The cbin was moved to The Peel Mansion property from Brightwater, Arkansas, just east of Rogers. « less

It was our intention to visit the Peel Mansion. Had I not visited their website before our trip or had I not call and listen to the recording phone message, I would've certainly understand. When we arrived we found the Peel was closed. Now admittedly this was a Thanksgiving trip for us. However, it was not Thanksgiving when we arrived... More

This mansion is a adjacent to a walmart parking lot, so it's very easy to find. Wonderful tour, loved the mansion and it's history. Staff were awesome, knew a lot, and enjoyed talking about the place. Tour overall was great, and you couldn't really ask for better tour guides. Enjoyed it so much that although the register closed after the... More

What a wonderful stop while in town for the weekend, the grounds were very nice and well cared for. The wonderful lady we had for a guide was full of stories about the house and the Peel family history.

The garden areas around the mansion are quite lovely, and contain many heirloom varieties of plants not usually seen anymore. Restoration of the house is going well and the visitor will get a very good idea of what life was like in the 19th century. Our tour guide was wonderful, and rightly proud of the efforts made by the volunteers... More

$5.00 fee to get a guided tour of this beautiful house. Great value. The docent was very knowledgable. Well worth a stop. Really enjoyed visiting with ladies working in the gift shop, too.

The house and grounds are located at the front of a Walmart store parking area. The property was originally a large farm owned by a family with important early political importance in the state of Arkansas. You need to enter one of the two driveways to the Walmart store to get to the property and there is a small parking... More

The house is amazing in and of itself, but the history and stories that came with the tour were so rich, I must recommend everyone make a point of going to this.

The Peel Mansion offers tours of the home built in 1875. The family raised 9 children in this two story 3 bedroom house. None of the original furnishings are displayed, but the oak floors, doorways and baseboards are original and beautifully restored. The guide describes life of the time period and has some tales about the family itself, so it... More
