It was a working farmstead surrounded by 180 acres of apple trees. The Peel Mansion is an outdoor museum of heritage roses, perennials, and native plants. Various vignette gardens are interlaced among curvilinear walks and large shade trees creating a most appropriate setting for this great historic building of northwest Arkansas. Also on the site is the pre-Civil War Andy Lynch log cabin which serves as a gatehouse and gift shop at the entrance to the grounds. The cbin was moved to The Peel Mansion property from Brightwater, Arkansas, just east of Rogers. « less

we enjoyed the visit, but the gardens where pretty bare when we went, and they do not allow photos, at all. A lot of the stuff in there is not original to the Waltons, and yet no photos. But the things there are period for the house.

We've been to a number of old mansions in the south and this one was smaller and far less grand than others; however, we always hear something we didn't know before and our guide was exceptionally nice and friendly.

I visited the mansion while my mom was in town visiting. The tour was very informative. I can only imagine the grounds are beautiful in the spring-time. If you love old houses & architecture this is a great place to visit!

We ended up having a private tour of the house. The ladies working that day were delightful. The home is as restored as possible given the condition it ended up in before it was saved. The home is beautiful and the grounds would be spectacular in spring. It is an interesting tour if you like historic homes. We were informed... More

The mansion was decorated for Christmas time when I was there and it was very well done. It is fun as well to learn about the Peel family.

We had a very knowledgeable and excellent docent, Carol. We not only learned about the house, the family and the history but also many fun facts that I have never learned before in all the tours I have taken, like the family keeping a hedgehog in the kitchen to eat insects like roaches!

loved the period furniture and neat gardens, and that it was close to home and right in the middle of a retail part of town.

If you've a couple of hours to kill (less in the winter when the gardens aren't in bloom) and a fiver to spare, then don't miss taking a tour of the Peel Museum in Bentonville Mo. Although situated on the main drag (Walton Blvd) smack dab in front of a Wal-Mart Super Store and across the street from the Wal-Mart... More
