Sure, the scenery is beautiful here, but IMO it doesn't even come close to comparing to the National Parks in the area. And I am not sure why anyone would come back. What more is there to see? It's not like there's miles and miles of backcountry hikes worthy of future exploration. It's like a 'been there, done that' type... more

We recently did a road trip and we spent 2 days and nights in Monument Valley. It was the perfect amount of time as you will want to stay and stay and stay! Our trip included Death Vally, Zion Park, Bryce Park, Grand Canyon S Rim, Canyon de Chelly, and Sedona. Nothing came close to moving us as did Monument... more

We felt so lucky to have the opportunity to experience this magnificent area. We flew in from GCNP South Rim & landed in the valley. We disembarked and stood in awe as we gazed at the spectacular surroundings. We then visited several other viewing areas, driven in a converted ute by a local indian who gave a small talk on... more

I recently took a trip to Northern Arizona and got to experience the magnitude that is Monument Valley, AZ. It was one of the most amazing places I have ever seen! Gigantic red rock formations rise from every viewable angle of this desert expanse. It really took my breath away. I was lucky enough to take a tour through the... more

Our journey from Page, AZ, took a couple of hours and on route the weather was not good and we thought we were in for a bad weather day! However, on the drive from Kayenta, the weather changed and we had sunshine! Monument valley was brilliant. Just like it is in the movies - we expected to see cowboys and... more

I've been to Monument Valley a dozen times over the last 35 years... it truly is my favorite place on earth. In early January of 2006 I stayed at Gouldings Lodge for the first time... it was luxury and it was a wonderful memory. Have camped in Monument Valley over the years and this last time drove down into the... more

We were staying at the Grand Canyon but had planned to visit Monument Valley, knowing it was a three and a half hour drive. We nearly decided against the time on the road but were so pleased we'd made the effort. The rich iron red of the land and stunning shapes of the buttes against the blue, blue sky made... more

If you've seen the photos and you think it looks magical - you will be struck almost speechless by being there. It's a long drive up from Vegas via the Grand Canyon (we stopped at GC).. But well worth it. Stay in Kayenta if you can't stay onsite). I recommend the Hampton Inn (see other reviews).. If you can, go... more

This past June my friend and I rented a Harley in Las Vegas and headed south on our Journey on a Harley across the desert. The trip I can not put into words... it was unbelievable. I will say on a Harley in June was quite the experience. First off I have to say be prepared when driving across the... more
