Cool and peaceful

Many informative trail markings, lovely scenery, but the best part is that you get under the shade and walk beside still waters. It restores your soul.

I love this place to go on a walk with friends or just alone to think and do some bird watching or just sit and watch the wildlife and the people and families enjoying the outdoors. They have a large variety of simple activities and a small "museum" of animals. It is great for families and especially for any eco... More

Nice place to view local plants, stroll around a pond, and take a short walk to the top of a hill to enjoy a great view of all the surrounding country.

Friendly volunteer docents at a beautiful oasis in the desert. Perennial stream with lush vegetation and a birders delight in the winter.

This riparian oasis is a relaxing opportunity to be outdoors on partially shaded pathways during Arizona’s hot summer months. It’s popular year-round with birders and photographers. This was my first visit; I'd like to return during the wetter winter months to compare the scenery. Nature Conservancy volunteers host the visitor center ($5 admission) which features informative botanical and wildlife displays.... More

Stop and tour the Visitors' Center to learn about the history of this place, then take a walk on any of the trails to see vermillion flycatchers, ducks, foxes, hummingbirds...it's quite remarkable.

We saw a javelin near the lookout point, a red fox with a rabbit in its mouth on the Willow trail, 2 sets of mating Western Tanagers, and lots of Vermillion flycatchers. Wheelchairs would have a tough time. Tom Horton, docent was not that helpful regarding fowl and fauna. $5 per person was well worth this excellent adventure. Bring your... More

The Hassayampa River Preserve is very beautiful, tranquil, and peaceful. Volunteers and employees are friendly and informed. There is a ton of history at the Preserve. Check it out! Admission fee is very small.

This preserve was beautiful and lush in the middle of dry desert. It was fascinating to see, with beautiful songbirds and butterflies, flowers and plants. A lovely break from the unrelenting sun and sparse vegetation surrounding it.

A recent visit to this Nature Conservancy property produced decent, although not outstanding, birding. We had read a recent review from about three weeks earlier describing a fantastic variety and numbers of each species, but there were only limits on both accounts. Still, we had some decent sightings, and as can be the case with any birding outing, you get... More
