Wonderful example of a riparian ecosystem. It is an underground river that comes up for 5 miles just here. The birding was superb.

This little jewel on the Hassayampa River is a fun place to visit (when it's not too hot). There are hiking trails and a small creek that runs all year. Great place for adults and children.

Don't look for a superficial Disneyland experience!! Look for a very unique adventure in the Sonoran Desert where there is a permanent lake and stream (sometimes a raging river) which provide for a wealth of wildlife and riparian flora. There are well marked and maintained trails that lead people through a delightful walking experience. The welcoming center has an abundant... More

Hassayampa River Preserve is a Nature Conservancy holding not to be missed. It is a great place to take a family with small children, as the trails are well maintained and mostly level. There is a large natural pond which often has ducks and turtles and is in a shady glen. Most of the Preserve is in the shade so... More

Loved the section with the water surrounded by trees. To get the feel of the Preserve, one needs to climb to the top and view the surrounding area.

Make a point to visit Nature's Conservancy's Hassayampa Nature Preserve just south of Wickenburg. It is 660 acres of riparian delights. Depending on the time of year, you will be entertained with migrating songbirds and butterflies. Beautiful Cottonwood trees along the Hassayampa. Also, an excellent selection of the only native Palm in Arizona (the Californian Palm). Outside the entrance is... More

Fantastic educational program, excellent trail, very friendly, helpful volunteers. Loved the overlook area with a map naming all the mountains we could see. Gardens around main building were nicely planted and labeled. The old palm trees around the park were way cool.

If you are going to be in the Wickenburg area plan a stop at the Nature Conservancy's Hassayampa River Preserve. The preserve is a beautiful piece of nature nestled along the Hassayampa River with a small lake, the river (more of a stream), hiking trails, and a visitor center. The trails are easy with one wheel chair accessible along the... More
